Cannot start game

I've just deleted M&B. Reinstalled it over steam and downloaded the launcher. With the launcher I downloaded crpg again. I press Play Crpg on the launcher and it brings up the next window, there I press "Play Mount&Blade" and nothing happens. Cant start the game anymore, anyone knows what to do?

2. latest crpg launcher/updater 0.77 - check(?)
3. starting crpg launcher + then chosing "play crpg" ?
4. afterwards the M&B launcher opened(?) and is there as well the cRPG mod chosen in the drop down menu?

i am at a loss here, my best guess is either there maybe missing some dlls(is there a MS framework requirement? like 1.1/3.5/4.5) or you could try to start it as admin to see if some of the files included have restrictions.

Try starting MB from the icon in the game folder or try launching it via steam.

I'll try that when I come home, but I think when I do this the game warns me about WSE, not sure though. Currently I have M&B installed twice, steam version and a non-steam version. When I start the launcher the game asks me which version to use and the non-steam version works perfectly.
Its just annoying because I bought it on steam and I would like to take screenshots and chat with friends while playing, currently all this is not possible.

Also when I started this topic I removed both versions of this game, steam & non-steam. I deleted the crpg folders and started downloading everything new in hopes of getting rid of this problem that way.
I have Norton, could it be in any way that norton blocks the steam version but not the non-steam version?

Whenever you reinstall a game you use mods with, you should always run the game first so it installs everything needed and creates the necessary configuration files (I think). I just always do it, just in case.

By the way, use MS Security Essentials instead - great AV and no issues for me!
