oh noes I hope they don't move the servers to TX.

Now I have to make a thread requesting the servers to stay in chicago but be changed to windows server...

Oh man this is getting complicated. ;)

As long as seige gets fixed I'm happy player.

Thank you Meow.

Whats the solution?  How can NA players help?

Found a hosting company and offer stuff for prices that are not completely ridiculous?

Hard to tell, if that move to the datecenter in Dellas, TX is still up for discussion that might do the trick and seems affordable, will still need some testing.
Then again it would probably screw over a big part of the NA playerbase ping wise.

No idea what the plan is or the options are, overall I just wanted to make sure you guys know what the prob is and that we did not stop caring about NA.

Most interesting!
So, should I instead make a thread requesting NA seige to be moved from a linux to a windows server?  That seems...counter-intuitive somehow. :)

Problem is most likely not the linux server but the hardware not being able to handle running the dedicated servers in wine since that is an extra performance hit.
Also requesting stuff won't work, you just gotta wait and see what happens.

Thank you, meow.
People fear what they do not know.  Now that I know, I am not longer afraid.

Just out of curiousity, is it possible to give these updated files to the community servers (ATS/crpg public? Both for battle and seige. Obviously, I don't know if their hardware is up for the task either.

Just to make sure cause the "whole problem" part might have come out wrong in my explanation, the prob is not that the box is running linux! but that the hardware is not capable of running the new server software in wine due to hardware limitations.

Might be the same issue under windows, can't judge don't know the hardware specs.
cmp is your dude for details, I just got memory fragments from irc to work with

Time to celebrate with tuna and catnip!

P.S.: I do not think that experimental files will be given out to any clanserver for now.
Also not my thing to decide though.
