I personally like the Heater Shield above Fur Covered Shield, the green one. low requirement, only 5 pounds, starts with 360 HP. Not a bad, lightweight shield imo, I love it.

I think:

Weight: Higher Weight = Slower Movement Speed.
Hit Points: The amount of damage it can take before fully breaking.
Body Armor: Reduces incoming damage taken (therefore indirectly increasing how many hits the shield can take before breaking).
Speed Rating: Higher Speed Rating = Quicker Blocking Speed on shield.

NOTE: This is just what I think it is and it may not be right. Although I'm pretty sure it is.

Plate Covered Round Shield
...
Well, my personal opinion is, that it does not have the best price/performance ratio. Actually it is pretty bad.
Quote
weight 10---------does this make me ridiculous slow?
Yeah, it makes you slower, but not that much. It is not that you lose 50% of your speed or something.
Quote
hit points 100----is this just the same like your own hitpoints?
body armor 50---and this like resistance or something?
Yepp. This should work similar like the damage calculation for player targets. High body armor works great against swords, spears etc. while high hitpoits are better against shield breaking weapons.

spd rtng 75-------And this is like how quick i block?
Yeah, something like this. The speed of the block animation is always the same. The speed rating is a value for the system, from when the block animation counts as active block.

Plate Covered Round Shield is weak. It is actually weaker than buckler...

For good resistance, go for a Steel Shield. IMO, best shield in this game, if you have 8+ shield skill.

I don´t know a formula.

Question is , what do you want for a shield ?

There are fast lightweight shields. = Good for fast movement , with low weight stuff , like armor and weapons , but not very durable , especially against shieldbreaker weapons.

There are heavy shields with high shield body armor , good against all normal weapons.

There are high hitpoint shields, good against shield breaker weapons.

And there are medium allrounder shields. Not too much weight, but very good against normal weapons and good against shield breakers , if they have around 400+ hitpoints.

Short :

- High body armor = good against all weapons that don´t have "bonus against shield" ( like axes , or throwing javelins for example ).
- High Hitpoints = good against all weapons , even shield breaker weapons.
- High weight = bad , for fast movement.

So there are some main trends for shields :

- Some like Steel Shield cause of it´s high body armor.
- Many like the Huscarl shield , cause of it´s good protection radius, and good allround abilities
- Some like faster allrounder like the green heater shield , with only 5 weight , but only 10 body armor and 360 hitpoints , or orange heater shield with 5,5 weight 12 body armor , 410 hitpoints ( same hitpoints like huscarl ).
- And some other shields , that are different. ( Just try )

So it´s about what you like ... try and check the differences.

Plate Covered Round Shield is weak, I can destroy it in 2-3 axe hits.

Don't use it if you want to survive.

People have explained pretty well that you are right. :)
However, Plate covered round shield is one of the worst shields to use -- allow me to explain.

The armor is nice, making weak hits simply do no damage.
The area it covers is nice, as it is a round shield.
The speed is OK, it will work fine unless you really like the split second blocks for fast counter attacks.
The weight won't slow you down any more than other shields.

...Then you get to the hit points. It only has 100 hit points. This is way worse than you think it is. 50 Armor will only go so far as to negate damage from being done to the HP. Bonus to shield weapons have a 2x modifier to damage against shields, and will often 1 or 2 hit this shield. Not only that, but a 2handed sword swung with a bit of speed bonus will probably break it in 5 hits. That is really bad when it comes to shield survivability.

The plate covered round shield needs to be rebalanced. Make it have 150 or 175 Hp and it will be as good as the other not-as-good-as-huscarl-shields.

I could never understand why no-one likes Heavy Board Shield.. :(
Pre-patch, i have played 500+ hours with it, and it was one of the best shield out there. One might not like how it looks, but other then that, its great! I have seen old Templar players with it, so it should be allowed for you :)
Give it a try! Archers, crossbowmen and throwers - will ignore you. No-one will even bother to shoot in your direction. If you hold it right - enemies can not see ANY part of your body. Only the tip of your weapon.

I could never understand why no-one likes Heavy Board Shield.. :(

It´s a good shield , with high hitpoints, but simply too much weight for me. I like to move fast , so even the huscarl´s 9 weight is too much for me. Best all around weight for me is about 5 weight, cause my heater has only 5,5 weight , but same hitpoints like huscarl. My heater has not so good protection, but it´s ok for me , cause it´s not so heavy.

And the plate covered round shield is really a very bad shield. Good against normal damage. It has 50 ( ! ) body armor ! But first it is heavy ( 10 weight slows me too much down ) , and second : hard shield breakers kill this with one hit , cause body armor is not so important against bonus against shield weapons , and hitpoints counts against them. 100 hitpoints are a bad joke ;-) You could take the old round shield with 1 ( ! )  body armor , against such a shield breaker weapon for the same effekt , like the 50 body armor. It breaks in 1 hit. But there is a cost difference about 3916 Gold. So such a high body armor , low hitpoint shield simply sucks.

Edit : If you like the style of the heavy heater shield, what about the norman shield ? Its cheaper ( 3226/4346 ) , has a little less weight ( 6,5/7,5 ) and has much more hitpoints ( 480/305 ) , by only a little less body armor ( 14/19 ) !? If you like to play 1h/shielder after lvl 31 , a triple heirloomed norman shield is a really very good shield with 20 body armor and 575 hitpoints. I think about it as a exchange shield for my orange heater too ;-) ( only 1 weight more than orange heater , but much more coverage )
