Im trying to level up a light/medium calvary sword and board user, or as you call them "bumbslashers.''  Whats the best 1h sword for this type of role in your opinion?

Sarranid cav sword is good for its length, you could also use a longsword as a 1hander, the speed/dmg penalty isnt as important on horseback. Also, you could be lame and get a crush through weapon, morningstar or bar mace.

I use a knightly arming sword in the past, now a nordic champs sword. Take a weapon with a good reach (at least 100 for me) and/or decent damage in swings, the attack mostly used on horseback

I just saw changelog, Cavalry has become the weakest class in cRPG, because they have to play infantry 90% of the time, wich they aren't made for. They used valuable skillpoints in riding etc. so they are weaker than infantry on foot, and they never fight mounted due to upkeep. I myself have 99% transformed to infantry because of horse price nerfs and upkeep in general.

Simpler guide for beginner light cav:

1. Don't attack people that are clearly aware of your impending attack... not until you've learned how to hit them while remaining out of their range.

2. Play like a TF2 spy. You can't do much against an alert force, but you can dominate if you're sneaky.

3. There's more. Keep practicing.

I disagree with this. I think we're still viable and maintainable.

I use a Heavy Lance, Mail chausses, Nordic Pot helm, Tribal Warrior Outfit, Leather Gloves, Hafted Blade as a secondary, a plain cav shield (req 1), and ride a Heavy destrier. That amounts to about 35k worth of equipment. Of course, the higher cost of horses is rough. But, I still break practically even. I keep a 10k reserve; if I'm above it, I use better armor. If I'm below it, I downgrade to a Rouncey.

I was on earlier today and mopped up the rabble like I normally do. Of course, archers are still our nemesis, but I believe I was an important asset to our team winning.

do lances that mention 'penalty with shield' do less dmg couching when you are using a shield horseback?
