The op post doesn't make many sense to me, even from an historical point of view (and this is a fantasy game) most armies in 1200/1500 were multinational, with very different equip and nationalities in it, forget about all same colour/same weapon armies. Seeing a guy with a turban fighting for templars doesn't seems so strange to me, he could be a turkoman mercenary. Kapikulu wielding a flamberge? Probably he looted it from a german guy.
Regarding my post- roman faction, i find it amusing that we have so many different classes. Most of us stick with heraldic, red or mailish roman-like armours, but nothing is forbidden, and when i see a Legio dressed like a Ninja i like to think is a ninja mercenary or some allied "ninja tribe"
.
Also since our players can't have chars in other factions, limiting our gear to "board shield short sword and javelin" or to medieval italian would be boring in the long run. We like to change our classes and try different weapons and chars, our clan isn't based over Roleplaying a class but to be a group of mates that loves to play togheter, speaking our native language ;).
So even if we will get Roman or medieval italian armours is unlikely we will start to roleplay as Shogunate or Ninja faction does. We have fun this way and in the end this game is about having fun, if a faction have fun to have a strict dress/equip code and roleplay good for them, if some other faction like us or mercs don't want to, we don't ruin the immersion anyway , see us as multinational factions
