Reassigning heirlooms - Are they erased after retirement?

I've got a question that I hope one of the devs could answer, please.

I'm level 29 now and when I reach level 31 I plan on retiring, but I haven't yet reassigned my heirlooms after Fasader's peasant band struck. If I retire without reassigning them yet, do they carry over to the new character for them to use sometime in the future, or are they lost forever?

P.S. What is up with firebombs? As far as I can tell, they do nothing now. o_o

You will not lose the "Fasader" heirlooms after retirement. I retired before using them and had no problems.
