2H Cav, torn between two different approaches.

Hi, I don't make these topics often and hope I can get an opinion from current 2H cavers. (Few and inbetween D: )

So here is my dilemma; I just can't flat out decide what's worth it more to me. Hitting hard or having surgical precision on horseback, I just have two slightly varying builds.

Roid monkey:

"Arabian Style"

My question to you swing-cav, what's more important.. power/health or straight up maneuvering?

"Arabian style," definitely. In fact, I'm using the exact same build this gen. You can't outrange enemies, so you need to outmaneuver them.

The speed bonus boosts your damage anyway, so 6 power strike is more than enough - especially since you're more oriented towards multi-hit fights than the slower lancers.

Hit em, then turn around and hit em again, and again. That's your bread and butter - not the 1hko couched lance strafing runs that other cav do.

I used the 'arabian style' just with 3 WM instead of 3 IF. Go with a 2H and a great lance and have loads and loads of fun :)
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

Yep 6 PS is more than enough from horseback, especially with 7 riding :)

Why would you not take WM if you're taking ATH? You're seriously handicapped on foot without reasonable amount of wpfs.
Mods compatible with cRPG. New crosshairs, textures, sounds, yay.

Yeah if you are planning on not using WM you should stick to just one WPF.

If you really really gimp yourself on foot you can convert enough to do 18/24.  7 riding's plenty, just a thought though.  8 riding on courser or arabian is pretty fun but you're really banking on not getting dehorsed - you still get 3 athletics though, and agility alone helps movement speed a bit.

Also, just crank all your wpf into 2h - if you want to use an xbow, you'd have to do so very very sparingly.  Without Horse Archery & 100 or so wpf, you're not using your melee potential while trying to pull off ridiculous light xbow shots.

Or just tell me to shut up and play how you want.  I honestly recommend the 18/21 build, but if you sac athletics and IF you can get 8 riding.  7 is already pretty awesome though.

Not too sure what with your wpfs, but I can see your trying to keep your options open. Arabian will probably be for the best since prolong battles with a 2h cav vs infantry never goes well

This is my Build with my Katana Cav if you want to use it

What am I looking at under your WPF? Like others have said just pick one melee proficiency if you're not going to invest in WM or HA unless you just want to ride around shot-gunning other horses, at that point you might as well bring a sword or lance though.
And how!

5-6 PS and the speed bonus on horseback is enough to deal serious damage with a 2H or polearm on a horse. I'd heavily recommend your "arabian" build over the other. With a steppe, desert, or arabian horse you'll net more kills. Heavier cav will not be able to land hits on you unless you don't see them coming. With high maneuver, you can not only turn quickly but accelerat from a stop faster as well.

Being able to stop suddenly and swing around for a second strike on infantry catches a LOT of players off guard. You can also circle dueling infantry and constantly horse-bump the enemy for your ally.

Most players see a horse charging them and assume you've got a lance or other weapon with a narrow range and that if you miss or they block, you will ride off to find another target or take a while to charge again. That's why I think maneuverability is more important.

And if you get de-horsed with low WPF and low athletics, you are hosed. Even if you are made of big meat and covered in plate armor, you'll just stumble to death as five peasants beat you over the head with sticks.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

Sorry for not being here to reply to my own topic! I appreciate the amount of replies and I hope I didn't confuse anyone with the joke WPF amounts, I'm very well acquainted with the base 114 WPF as a pure so I think I'll take my Arabian build and run with it.

Thank y'all and I'm gonna go with the second build, of course if you wanna add some more input you can keep posting. Otherwise this thread can slowly faaaaaade away.
