The shorter more damaging 1 handed weapons are very weak against kicks where as the longer faster more damaging ones are not.

This is okay, but it is a little unfair on the shorter weaker 1H weapons. My question is does weapon speed and weight effect stun time.

 It should. I have only ever had a few 1H alts, they used the longer or slower 1H weapons and at the time kicking really wasn't a big thing. At the moment watching 1H players getting decapped by aggresive 2H players because their weapon is so short seems a little unfair.

 Kicking is a borderline game mechanic in my veiw so it should really be changed. I would really like to see 1H making up the majority of fighters, as this would be historically/visually far better than the current situation. Changing the kick mechanics is a good place to start in my opinion.

Short cut 1hs need better sweetspots. If everything goes right, kicks will be effectively put in place if short 1hs can hit from better angles. Short pierce weapons are fine (pretty sure blunt is, too).

Kicks are goofy looking imo but they're pretty much engrained in the battle system.

If you want historical accuracy make spears free and turn the over head into a stab like NW, MM & WaFS.

Weight does cause stun. Heavy weapons stun lock weapons for longer.

The way to use the short fast 1h weapons is as a counter attacking weapon. A good dose of ATH doesn't go a miss either. But you don't want to chase an S key hero, it just won't work. Way easy to kick, but the speed of some of those short weapons like the Scottish Sword really work great on the counter attack. It's just a completely different way of playing with them, you have to let your apponent bridge the gap and then take them out.

I dont think you understood the OP.

I am proposing that lighter a weapon is the shorter the time the kicked players is stunned for.

Often those using lighter shorter weapons are most suseptable to kicks as they are also often using lower str builds with lower armour values. If a high str build kicks and then slashes them it might only take one hit to cause a fatality and I dont think that a kick should be a game ender.

Many of these fast weapons are too weak but as opposed to suggesting a stat change i am suggesting an existing mechanic is tweaked. This will also nerf some classes (mauler,polearm, huscarl shield and warhammer). The weights of some weapons in the 1H category might need tweaking namely the picks and sickles.

Ah, I had missed that completely. Not a bad idea really. I guess if you could simply take into account over all weight + weapons length.

So armour shields the whole thing.

So to sum up, much faster block/attack recovery time for short weapons?

It is insane that a guy using a maul or flamberge can recover as quickly as someone using a katana or short sword.

Well you can recover as fast, but you forget that the light and short weapons usually have faster speed and are able to block faster after the recovery. Kick is a viable counter against a shielder who just keeps his block up and doesn't let you hit and comes to facehug you. There is nothing bad about it. Great mechanic. It is always your own fault if you get kicked.

1H stab is the fastest, strongest and longest 1H animation. There's no reason NOT to use it in all instances. I don't know if it's OP, but it's boring. 1H used to be fun because you had a fast (left), long (right) and the most devastating attack (stab) and had to choose the best attack for each occasion.

I was more thinking the pathetic 1H weapons like short broad sword, scottish sword, dagger and all the others that do so little damage and are so light that they are not viable. Yeah im ready to here how viable they are but have a look which weapons you use more and tell me that a scottish that a short broad sword is a good primary weapon.

Kick should be most effective against the people it is meant for heavy shield using facehuggers not light weight low damage more speed biased opponents that due to low weapon reach come into your range.

Katana is weak its just for knob ends thatt want to be ninja's and space pirates.

How does it make sense that the heavily plated juggernaught is more affected by the kick? The speedy 1h bugger allready has the advantage, a quick dodge left/right or even back and you have a free hit as they recover from the kick.

I never once mentioned armour weight.

Go into your back yard and pick up the heaviest tool you can. Now double over, how quickly can you get back into an uprite blocking stance. Now go to your kitchen and do the same with a chef's knife.

Do you understand now. Also don't stab yourself in the kitchen.
