Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor
Too lazy to watch it entirely. Does this method produce nuclear waste with a tremendously high half-life?

Who cares about nuclear waste ? We got so much space to put it in we are actually confused as to where it should be buried. Not to mention that by the end of the century we will probably be throwing it into magma or in space, be it the moon, the sun or asteroids.

And actually he says thorium produces less garbage than uranium by factors of hundreds

I was going to make an incredibly insensitive joke about what we could do with our spent nuclear waste but then I got depressed thinking about the implications.
And how!

Eventually it is going to be a problem and I doubt having to shoot it into space is going to outweigh the benefits of nuclear energy. Dropping it into magma however sounds like a nice idea. Still think its kinda shortsighted to just start producing unsafe materials and expect the future generations to find a solution for it.

Agreed, we should instead focus our technologies and intelligentisia on harnessing the tremendous energies of the Sun, Sea and Earth before anything else, especially before energy sources that pollute our planet for hundreds of thousands of years (for some nuclear fission waste several million, in comparison homo sapiens have only existed for a few hundred thousand years).

Hydroelectric dams, windmills, geo- and solarthermal energy, etc. already many nations get about 10-15% of their energy from these sources, and some much more:

Quote
About 81 percent of total primary energy supply in Iceland is derived from domestically produced renewable energy sources. In 2007, geothermal energy provided about 66 percent of primary energy, the share of hydropower was 15 percent, and fossil fuels (mainly oil) 19 percent.[1] The main use of geothermal energy is for space heating with the heat being distributed to buildings through extensive district-heating systems.[1] About 85% of all houses in Iceland are heated with geothermal energy.[2]
Renewable energy provides 100 percent of electricity production, with about 70 percent coming from hydropower and 30 percent from geothermal power.[1] Most of the hydropower plants are owned by Landsvirkjun (the National Power Company) which is the main supplier of electricity in Iceland.[2]

Watch the damn video then debate you silly numbskull, don't act like one of those freshmen who blither first and research second. It will allow you to better construct an arguement. Don't be so silly, you used more time and energy reading and typing, then watching the very simple 5 minute video.

I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

Tbh, you are better watching the original TED 10 minute video. It's clearer.

I don't think so. Satellite launches are quite a common thing nowadays. We got the technology we need to begin a "nuclear waste to space" program, but that would be useless since we really don't have any problems dealing with it currently.

Heh, no, I didn't  That guy was great, I discovered him recently and watch all his films. Sadly his books aren't so great, at least at first look.
