I've always thought Tabard should be heraldic because, after all, the tabard is the coat worn by a herald. I also think Tourney Armour should be heraldic because presumably it's what a knight would wear at a tourney. I don't think changing many other armours is necessarily a good idea - heraldic Skirmish Armour or Aketon makes no sense.
