Check the FAQs I think if there is any "free" part it will be very limited, I think they intend to milk this one for all it's worth. If I had a regular income and less things to worry about I'd probably get this.

Yup, the BattleTech community has known about this for a while. Yes, it is free.

Still, fun to see the development over the years. Reminds me of that old 3025 online game ten or so years ago, battletech online, before it ended.

There is another small version with combined arms, but that requires the battlefield engine I think, and has problems in the dev team.
