This got me so hyped up about minecraft again I just finished by awesome 4-bit sequential additioner xD

It uses only one 1-bit full addition circuit, but manages to add two 4-bit values using a clock. The piston witchcraft to get those reading and writing mechanisms to work was also quite fun.

And that also helped with the logic circuit exam I got tomorrow today. 


I've seen many 16 or even 32 bit additioners based on full logical translations, but those become kinda gigantic and boring to do. I only need to play with the reading pistons a bit to manage 16, 32, 64 or even 128-bit additions without too many problems. Ofc it may be slower than the asynchronous ones but I'm not even sure given their size. Furthermore, with a mod for preventing torch burn-out, I could increase the clock speed a lot. The one showed here does approximately 1 Hz. I can already make it go faster but I needed it to be slow to find problems.

I guess you are speaking about the 3D printing thing

Ok ok tomorow I start spending my free time on cRPG development, since my last exam ends in 8 hours. I'm already planning to write a little thread to compile all the "client requirements" for the job, and make sure we got everything more or less right and clear to start with. There are for example a couple of points about how far we should integrate into the ingame part of the mod I'm not sure of.

I tried DF. But then I realised I had the any of two choice between sleep, my social life, dwarf fortress, and suicide. What I did there in minecraft, although greater than the usual redstone tinkering, is basically equivalent in complexity to reaching the end of a basic tutorial in Dwarf Fortress. That thing some people call a game is more complex than the sum of the things I learned during 2 and a half years of computer science. I could spend a month (and probably more) to get into that (apparently great) game, but tbh it's too much. Intellectual masturbation for it's very own sake is okay, but don't push it too far.

If it had nicer and clearer graphics though, I would probably try it more seriously.
