Age   43 [28]
Experience   3213600
Level up at   3573418
Kills   214
Death   101
Gold   32701
Generation   15 (lolwut... but I'm only using a 2x heirloomed 1h sword at the moment)
Attribute Points   0
Skill Points   0
Weapon Proficiency Points   1
Convert 2 Skill Points into 1 Attribute point.

Strength   18
Agility   16

One Handed   105   [5 WPF cost]
Two Handed   1   [1 WPF cost]
Polearm   1   [1 WPF cost]
Archery   1   [1 WPF cost]
Crossbow   114   [6 WPF cost]
Throwing   1   [1 WPF cost]

Ironflesh   0
Power Strike   6
Shield   4
Athletics   5
Riding   5
Horse Archery   2
Power Draw   0
Power Throw   0
Weapon master *   5

Going to put the remaining points into WM and HA skills to increase accuracy with the crossbow which is now a bit lacking.

Things you can do:
- use a twohander instead of onehander for horseback slashing (less effective then 1h though, longsword is a fine choice)
- use a onehander no shield (liberates some skillpoints, good for horseback slashing but lacking for foot combat compared to eg using a longsword)
- make it a dedicated horseman with 15/24 build (less slash damage, sadly) - 5 PS, 6 riding, 4 HA, 8 WM

Tips:
- Grab 100 melee wpf
Best ban reason ever:

I checked, the only Vagabond I found was Wolves_Vagabond_TheCruel, that guy is now unbanned. Ban reason was: "calling Zotte a cockswoggler".

Why not think about a stronger crossbow?

I lack experience but I am eager to learn more about crossbowbuilds.

If I would start a crossbowmen I would either use the heavy or the sniper crossbow and skill agility as much as possible.

I would prefer to oneshot archers or medium armoured targets. Would this be possible? Are stronger crossbows fast enough with extrem high wpf?
Is the accuracy with 150+ wpf high enough?
Does "over strength" have any influence?

You mean:

Is the accuracy with at least 150 wpf same as 180+?

And i can answer: yes. However, every point in wpf make your reload time shorter.

Why not think about stronger xbow?

Because i wouldnt be able to get 190 wpf, of course.

And with current dmg of xbows, even Siege (sniper) one isnt 1shotting, most of people just have another 5-15 hp left :/

Of course, you WOULD one shot agi monsta and archers, but... if agi monsta get close to you, you are dead, due to low wpf in other weapons and no athletics etc., and if you spot archer in short-medium distance, you have only 1 shot, then you must reload, and he can try to avoid first shot and counter it in 2,5-5 sec (depends on archer).

So i would take my loomed light xbow. And I think version A is the best, 9 str, not too bad armor, even nice weapon, 10 athletics, 10 weapon master, agi monsta, 3 ps... great :D

PS

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 12
Agility: 30
Hit points: 47
Converted: 14
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 0
Shield: 0
Athletics: 7
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 10
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 1
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 190
Throwing: 1

with heavy xbow... wouldnt be as fast as once heirloomed light xbow, and well, the point of getting my build is:

a) shot speed rate almost same as archer with longbow, or even a bit faster
b) 30 agi and 10 athletics with above = archers nightmare, can avoid arrows!
c) no one but extreme ninja and horses can get you!

Light crossbow has atrociously short effective range and 3+ shots required to kill an average person. If you heirloom the sniper, you will be able to take out archers with it in generally one hit, and they make for great targets since they're stationary if they think nobody is aiming at them. And generally, you can finish off wounded people better the more damage you do, you can onehit or almost onehit horses with a sniper (or sometimes heavy) crossbow, which is a massive service to your team.

So I see this build more as trying to be an annoyance rather then a effective foot crossbow build. Not to mention melee weapons are useful to have. But the main thing is that stronger crossbows really are better, if nothing then for the extra range and bolt speed, which is very bad even with a heirloomed light crossbow. If you eg. heirloom a sniper, the accuracy, the bolt speed and the damage makes it really a sniper weapon. You can take out that archer in one hit often enough.

Trying to play shootout games with archers with a light crossbow has the problem that you need to stop, even for a moment, to reload, and the additional problem you still need ~3 shots to kill him, and he needs 2-3 to kill you, too, with eg a strongbow which fires faster. Plus your bolts are easy to dodge, so slow.

Thank you bruce.

You have encouraged my idea of a fulldamge sniperbuild.
What you described is what I did exspect and I think such a build has its advantages and also disadvantages. The playstyle surely would differ a lot from a light crossbowbuild.

Especially the higher projectilespeed attracts me because you can hit moving targets easier and enemies further away. Also the accuracy is slightly higher.

Playing a sniperguy is not meaning you have to dodge arrows while you face an archer, it is more about hiding and shooting over far distances.
More strategic gameplay and relying on your teammates but has the capabiliy to do massiv damage. I am looking forward to shoot randomly into a archer crowed roof and take out one by one :)
Also it is nice to see horses fell ^^

... in about 1,5 minute.

You would play something like:

3 sec for shooting/10 sec for reloading. Considering high chance that you'll miss, it would take ages to kill about 5 archers.

Though I lack game experience I really doupt what you stated. Once I started an crossbowman and played it to level ~15. What I remember was the high reloadtime, but it was beyond 10 seconds.(heavy crossbow with 12 strg a had)

Now thinking of ~190 prof and a 3 loomed snipercrossbow I doubt that the extremly high reloadspeed. Maybe 5 seconds but not more. I consider the high wpf and also the high agility(!) will boost the speed well.(or am I wrong with the agility boost?)

okay, 190 is a little bit too extremy, but reducing the agility to 27 will allow you to have much more "softskills" like athletic or ironskin(which is actually not nessessary, but ath is nice to have)

I don't think you will notice those additional 8 or 17 WPF, so I'd go with Version A. Maybe I'll even try it next gen, I'm seriously considering going ranged after some gens of melee-only.

Then:

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 15
Agility: 27
Hit points: 50
Converted: 14
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 0
Shield: 0
Athletics: 8
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 9
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 1
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 181
Throwing: 1

If you really want siege xbow, get this build. HOWEVER, if this build would be compared to mine (version A), yours loses: 2 athletics, 1 WM (thus 9 wpf), 3 power strike (with 0 you will be mostly bouncing off, maybe not so much if you will use bardiche or something, but it is slow as hell).

You would gain, however, better accuracy (a bit) and higher dmg (a lot) and also higher shot speed (a lot), but it would be less "agile" overall.

Zagibu, when i'll hit 31 lvl, i am taking version A build and will report results in 2 months (i dont have too much time for playing =D)

@ Khalim - I'm using 2x hierloomed sniper xbow atm, and I can tell you, don't expect to one hit (from 100% to 0% HP) anything except cloth guys and headshots. There is a chance you will one hit few archers, but they will survive your bolt most of the times. Also, there is no point in gimping yourself in melee. My current build is

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 15
Agility: 24
Hit points: 50
Converted: 8
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 5
Shield: 2
Athletics: 8
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 8
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 86
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 160
Throwing: 1
(WPF are actual in game stats, not from calculator)

It works well. There is no reason to ignore melee, you WILL be meleeing and deliberately gimping yourself in that regard is stupid. Obviously, whenever you are happy with your xbow accuracy and reload speed, you can stop putting point into xbow wpf and put the rest into melee. With 150 in xbows you can have a bit over 100 wpf in melee.

I have an alt with 60 points in xbow with light crossbow. it fking rocks!
I usually get kills from 20-30 feet away. Not heavy armor users like plate or anything above chainmail though.
