specifics on the use of throwing weapons in melee

So in my search for a viable pure thrower I've failed, luckily being close enough to retirement to not have to respec;

Throwing lance
small round steel buckler

Doing some research I see a lot of throwers are actually 1hers with a smidge of tossing mixed in. But I found I thoroughly enjoy using jarids/T.lance in its secondary, as it intimidates some to run and give me the opputurnity of planting said weapon in their backs.

So here's the question; when using say a Jarid as a melee weapon, what constitutes it's wp? Is it a 1h, or a pole? Does it use the bonus for power throw or power strike?

Any answers, and possibly advice on enhancing the build for this play style is appreciated.
