No gold/xp might not even be enough though, since over half the factions are usually allied in some regards. So in some sense the community is broken, but unfortunately major bloc alliances has always been an issue in player controlled games, people seem to rather want to win pointless efforts with supreme numbers than actually gaining something both as a player and as an individual.

The fun isn't here anymore, ai fief are defended by a pub, no organization, no tactic, few players, ticket waster, shity gear (even if better than before), all this things are a big malus in motivation and there is no bonus.
This is more fun to play crpg battle or siege and you win something.

Last battle i made for AI, we were 15 defenders against a full roster, it was a joke, we did what we could but it's no fun to be slaughter.

Being new I found it fun to join as defender...

After the first few long battles (almost an hour) I realised that

a ) I was not getting any XP to advance my toon.

b ) Unless the attackers are like 600 vs a 500 people village or 1100 vs a 1000 village there is no chance of victory with the gear provided! Even a prosperous village gives the same items like all others!. So the usual fighter 1000 attackers vs 500 village is a doomed ventured.

c ) The village DOESNT PAY YOU! So you spend your time for nothing!

d ) The items given by the village do not represent all classes. Meaning that I have spent my time building a cavalry guy... but there are never any horses... so my build is gimped! There are also no serious 2handers so even the smaller part of my build is ruined...

So overall despite my eagerness to try this whole village defending business out... in the end I just stopped doing it.

thats one thing i hate with new strategus... even dadao or goedendag are too expensive now so you always play with shit

I agree with Warcat, if it's an odd hour that you might have been willing to stay up for, you might not have been willing to wake up to check if you were denied.

Yeah for NPC village defense I believe it approves roster changes/additions, every hour on the hour until the battle starts.  But if the battle doesn't start until 45 minutes after the hour, nobody who signed up that last 45 minutes will get accepted (even if they don't have a full roster).  Something like 5 minutes before the battle they should re-check the roster and add/change sign-ups as needed.
