Light infantry or Heavy infantry?

I've retired and I was previously playing a Light infantry Shielder(with 6 Athletics) and I was thinking for this turn to maybe try something new like a Heavy infantry shielder(With 7 Ironflesh) I'm unsure to whether the Heavy infantry would be effective in Strategus which is most important.

I'm seeking a second opinion(Several would be nice).

at level thirty a 21-15 build can have 5 shield and around 145wpf in one thing.

I dont play strat but i imagine that shields would be helpful.

Are x-bows good in strat?
If you were to go Polearm or 2H (with no shield) than the remaining 5 points could be used for riding or throwing effectively.

From what I've heard, Xbows are expensive and combateers seldom equip their armies with them.

throwing would be effective i think. If you're not worried about load out weight equip many javelins and rain terror upon you're foes.

If you want to have shields than a 21-15 build is fine as long as you wear decent leg armour and use a largish shield

Even PT 5 and 100-ish wpf can be a devestator in strat as long as the commander remembered to bring rocks. They don't slow down the army (one troops can carry 8 stacks), works well against low armoured targets, stunning archers are great fun, makes you able to stop kiting/retreating enemies. Besides, there's nothing you can do in a shieldwall as a shieldless melee anyway, so why not launch some rocks? Wreck some havoc and all?
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

i respecced to a 24-15 hoplite because of the need for shields.

If you are a str build, you need shield skill in strat. No doubt about it.
