I dont understand when you attack a villiage

When i look at the villiage i see this:

Tash Kulun

    Population:500
    Owner:0
    Army:208
    Gold:157067
    Recruits:0

But what do this mean?
Population is 500, they defend the villiage i think, but what about the Army 208, who defend, the Army or the population?

If its the same as the last time i played strat it's pop + army so 708 defenders

Popualtion doesn't need upkeep. But it can't be used, they always stay in village since Strat v2.
Army needs upkeep and can be "transferred" from village to player.
When someone attacks village number of defender's tickets = pop+army.

I dont play v1 in strat.

its just because all other clans who attack a villiage, there is only 500 to 502 defenders

Neutral owned villages only have pop and no soldiers hence the 500 army.

You'll see player owned villages have far more.

Well, that simply means that someone sent the troops to the fief... Anyone can drop army or items to the AI location to reinforce it. This is how you make the life of the clan that claims the fies more difficult, but sometimes it is done by mistake...

They don't. The have same equip.
There is absolutely no difference between population and army when village is under attack.
