It worked well in Assassin's Creed, because...Assassin's Creed is Assassin's Creed. (Record for the most instances of Assassin's Creed in a sentence.)
In Warband, it would probably glitch like all hell and make people rage even more about "x is so unbalanced, nerf x, remove x, I FUCKING QUIT, Q.Q!!111!!"
Still, if it could be properly implemented, and to the point where it adds dynamics that previously did not exist...well, still, see above.
Could make it a wicked difficult QTE, though; only available in the next DLC
