Help me decide 1h/Shielder Build

What builds would you prefer as 1h/Shielder.
From what I See it all depends, aswell on your personal skill.

What a dilemma . As 1h I think PS is needed, but I do not want to drop less then 5atl ( I prefer 6 though). And what about IR  ?


Please share me your oppinion and experience about the builds.

Also what 1h Weapon you guys prefer ?

or 7ps,5shield,6 athl,5riding 111wpf ot 7ps,5shield,6athl,5if 111wpf. you choose.

KAs on NCS the only swords you need to use.

Well, I ll show you pros and cons of each build:

1) The agi whore:
12 strength 4 power strike
then raise agi athletics weapon master and shield as high as possible
Weapon: steel pick
shield: heavy kite shield
pros: you will be fast enough to catch archers, dodge lances and kick- slashers, run from enemy mob;
con: one mistake or one strike in your back and you are dead

2) the strength beast
24 (or even more) strength
weapon: elite scimitar/ military cleaver
shield: (heavy) board shield
pro: in good armor you can fight in the middle of the battleline and you will hit like a "train"
con: you are too slow to escape from dangerous situations, so once caught and outnumbered your only 'tactic' can be to take as many with you as possible

3) builds between the above are not recommandable

Scimitars bounce a lot,and that bitches with short weapons are easily killed just backedaling and right swing spamming or attacking with frendlies or rule of 2 hits block and hit right in the face.

I prefer 18/18 with Iron Flesh.
You can get by with 5 athletics just fine, but more is better.  If you are fast and meneuverable you will survive longer.

If you are going to use a sword, I highly recommend 7 PS, or more.  You can get by on 6 if you hit right.

Personally, I prefer short, powerful 1h weapons.  That lets you go a little light on PS and higher on athletics.

Either way, a balanced build is best.  21/15...18/18...or 15/21 I'd say.  Not a HUGE difference between those 3, but your play style and weapon choice will decide whats best for you!

Not a bad idea for new shielders to  start with 18/18 or 21/18, hell even 18/21. The extra athletics make it more forgiving when you are learning the footwork styles associated with shielding.

If you keep going for more gens, you might want to think about starting to up your PS and lowering ATH, cuz it's tough to kill heavier people with just 6 or even 7 PS  and your footwork will start getting good enough that you can  make do with 5 or 4 athletics.

24/15 with heavy armor and long 1h (or axe), or 15/24 light armor and a short face-slasher. Rest is just half-measures

It's also good to keep in mind that weapon master skill will get a significant boost soon... so agi char is something to be considered.
