Fenceing, I am sure it has a lot of other fancy names, i do not bother looking into, requires a lot of technique, but you can not compare it to real fighting. Just like you can not do with LARP or the other thing we are talking about. There is only one thing that compares to a real fight, and well, that is a real fight and we do not want that, becouse people get hurt.

What ever style you prefer, is up to you. The basic of all of the fighting sports is the same. There are rules. Follow them and try your dauntest to win.

On the matter, that fenceing is just "who hits who first" i have to agree. It do not have anything to do with realism. But neither dose boxing or any other sport. That is why it is called sport/hobby.

I enjoy LARP becouse you can make up a world with a story. You can be a knight, a peasant or the evil necromancer who is up to no good.

Oh, basement nerd stuff? What do you call computergames then ;)

I did not expect so many to actually reply.

On the matter of "realism" neither LARP or the other thing i do not bother spelling, due to my bad spelling skills, are very realistic in any way.

The thing we do at the LARP i am at, is trying to give some kids a feel of an adventure. Like a hard videogame, and us bigger guys, can have a liltle fun bashing each other to bits.

Best thing about it, is when you fight people you actually like outside the game, becouse then you can do all sorts of stuff, like making awsome killing blows or nice death scenes. Useually, you just throw a little sign at the heart or throat, and the game is on for epic ass-whooping.

the downside however, is that some people ofc cheat with the healthpoints, there is no way of preventing that, but if you discover that someone is cheating, then just hit him harder. useually solves the issue!

Oh, and it is the only hobby, where you can beat kids, while they love you for it!

Another matter, about technique. There is some technique when you do LARP, but it is mostly team based and 1 hitpoint based. as soon as you are around 10 hitpoints, it becomes more a brawl or a gang up on that guy to make sure he dies.

The most important thing is footwork. the most common technique in LARP is baiting with your leg, and then hitting them on the swordarm when they go for it. Oh, and always try to move AFTER you start your swing. not before, else you will give away your moves. You can see that in the Free-For-All mixed battle when i am fighting the black elf with the big shield. he moves before he swings and i instantly see what he is going to do, so i hit him hard. he scrathed my leg a bit after i hit him, but it was not a clean hit.

If anyone is interested, i will be uploading monthly LARP actioncam videos on youtube on this channel.

The first video i uploaded was a nutshot :-D

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcQumcH_cZBLvvm8FeCSNSg

P.S!
Remember that this is LARP, not historical swordfighting. It is 2 completely different things. LARP is for fun, where historical fighting is also fun, it has a more serious aproach!
AND! It is a junior larp, so we can not go full force!

...Are fcking awsome!

No seriously. I have been playing on and off for some time, but havent really played a lot untill the last month or so.

The first thing that comes to mind is "omg... why the fck is evryone so much better than me!"

Then, after getting slightly better its more like this "omg i suck at this... People are going to rage on me, calling me names and sht..."

Finally i realize this "People are actually giving advice, encourageing me and generally just act nice... I like this place!"

So what i am trying to say is this:

You people here are generally speaking a nice bunch.
