Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord / Re: Buying it or nah?
« on: May 04, 2020, 04:03:26 am »
Hey there.

For me it is okay-ish. Singleplayer is ... neat, well the story is quite rubbish but i do not care about the banner anyway.
The combat system has pros and cons. I like that weapons have damage sweetspots now (except the menavlion, it hits like a truck at all ranges). Blocking is odd sometimes, because the "forcefield" is a bit smaller but you have still only four options to place weapon/shield to block an attack.

Multiplayer, for me it is better than Mordhau, but not much.
I have seen some familiar names on the servers like panos, leoking, gtx and a few fallen guys.
Anyway the class system ist not really my thing and siege and tdm needs team damage. currently everyone swings wildly at the toons without an icon over their heads to get some cheap hits.
Oh, and i still hate archers and now there is even more of them.

for me the demo was quite meh.
i also donĀ“t get it why there were only two unspectacular missions and not a bit more exciting stuff to convince potential buyers?
anyway, i could live with the bullet sponge enemies, but character-development via item progression is not my cup of tea, so i will pass on that.

wah, no blanka? i am out of here.

It's gonna be a hit and it's gonna crit too tho...
At least in my game I haven't really witnessed anything too weird yet.

Only the usual stuff here as well. My soldiers get killed behind high cover across the half map while every alien misses the hacked mech who is parked in open ground.

*sigh*
hey it is christmas time again. and like every year we ask our clients "hey the holydays are just around the corner, do you need a bit more goods to increase your stocks?". the answer is everytime "no, we are fine."
one or two weeks before christmas they realise "hey it is christmas time again, we need more stuff as usual. where is our delivery, we need our goods now!" (preferably all at the same time).

ooh, and the own staff is not that much better. half of them moans about a few hours of overtime right before the holydays (yeah, welcome to the service industries).
no wonder that germany has lost the war. :P

and now for something completely different, i have visited my LotrO account again (the last time i have played this was five years ago).
my kinship still exists, but no one is active anymore.

but that is not my point.
they have changed the skillsystem and now you have skilltrees like in wow. my precious burglar tricks were free available before, now they have to be unlocked in three different trees.
and the worst part is, they have nerved my favorite trick "improved enrage" (it blocks all ranged attacks and forces archers into meele fights :D ). you bastards!
(not to mention the ingame shop where you can buy permanent ability upgrades for real money)

I'm conflicted, since I liked both a ton.

As to what would make it worth playing in the current marketplace? Good game mechanics, an engaging story, choices that matter (ie. not like Mass Effect 3 ending) and plain just liking System Shock, SHODAN and the scifi theme.

Hard to say, are survival games still  in?
For me it was the mix of game mechanics and story. There was one huge level to explore (well with loading screens between the different decks), a light rpg system for your character (no jack of all trades), the limited inventory (so you cloud not carry everything and had to store your stuff somewhere else), the small stories and messages of the other crew members and the one thing that was quite new in fps games, you was able to climb on larger boxes or ledges.
Well, Shodan, i am not sure about her. I know she has survived in the implants of Rebecca, but the third time as villain might be a bit boring.

But maybe it is just the spacezombie thing. For example i did not really like Bio Shock 1, which was basically System Shock 2 with a different setting (minus the rpg part, the inventory, without Shodan and another ending). Dead Space on the other hand was great, it still lacks Shodan and the huge single level, but the rest is like in System Shock (oh and it has a similar story like Mass Effekt but a far better ending).

System Shock 2 was a great game for its time, only out done by deus ex. ...

When I use crafting on this game, some weapons disappear. I have tested this several times and it keeps happening. Has anyone encountered this bug yet, and if yes, has anyone found a fix yet ? Ain't playing that until that gets a solution.
switch to 3rd person view and then go back to 1st person.

lol what was he trying to do, make some ritsy club for his friends to hang out in like the movies???

That place is so ugly... nice golden gate bridge mural painting in the bar though, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this was a gay bar.

the main theme was "american style bar" so i guess it should look stereotypically like in the movies.
if i have to categorise it, then i would say a sportsbar with a family-friendly touch.

anyone else catch the irony of a supposedly german gas mask with hebrew instructions?

Joking aside, as Saddam was still in charge and the shit had hit the fan again, there were some shipments of spare nbc gear from germany to the israeli civil protection.
I guess that is why you can find german gasmasks in Israel.

well, it looks nicer. :D
i could have add a box instead of the maze to save some space.
anyway, the idea for the unloading is to prevent a tailback on the conveyor belts so the inserters can unload more items during one stop.

the maze for the loading is an attempt to control the distribution a bit.
since every inserter gets the same share of the items, i should have some limited control over in- and output of the wagon.
it does not make sense with the raw materials, but then there is rule #1: it has to look nice.

*necropost*

ha, the factory chimneys are smoking again.
this is the largest complex that i have build so far and this is only the processing plant.
on the other hand i still have trouble to control the final production lines. my envisaged solution (a few smaller train stations and a decentralised production) has some serious space issues and some flaws in the distributing system, yet.

processing plant
