Archery does seem pretty crap now. Horsies can run rings around the team unopposed, people can dodge with ease, and the arrows hit like noodles.
Most of my kills are from my weak melee weapon. Though i'm only level 22 with this archery build, but still... being a low level melee guy is a hell of a lot easier than being a low level archer, where the bows are just minor annoyances to the enemy before they smash your skull in.
Might just roll a staff spam character instead.

The lag spikes you're experiencing may be of a different kind to what I had, but work worked for me was: Run > services.msc > right click Wireless Zero Configuration > Stop. I do that everytime my computer starts up, of course it only applies if you're using wireless. (and just to note; i'm using Windows XP, I don't know if this only applies to XP)

« on: May 27, 2011, 07:07:23 pm »If anything, why wasn't the strong-bow replaced with the yumi? I haven't ever heard of a historical bow referred to as a "strongbow." There are bows referred to as a "war bow."
It's a middle-eastern bow. Obviously the names aren't accurate, hence Khergit bow.

Spear & shield is one of my favourite combos, it'd be nice to have an overhead thrust but alas, I doubt it'll ever happen. When I played spear & shield a while ago I could kill those that were careless and/or underestimated me one on one, but too often I had to throw my shield on my back so the enemy couldn't block every thrust.
It's main role as others have said is support. Stopping horseman, suprise poking at people in duels etc.

I've been using an Italian sword with my archer (45 1h wpf, 4 PS), got a fair amount of kills with it, though heavy armor is a challenge. Other times I just grab a pick, very effective but low range.
