log in before its too late again.

Even when we get 10 people, at least half of them are usually either ranged (especially the troll du jour; 'wizard' throwers) or cav. The rare melee fight is usually just a contest to see who can avoid more projectiles and cavbumps while fighting.

Why dis mod have to die? It's not like there are any other games worth playing.

Hello Hounds, I joined your clan with my main. I hadn't seen anyone from HG since I came back from my long hiatus, and HoC peeps have always been cool to me, so what the hell. 

I probably won't wear the banner unless there are a few of you on, because all my sh!t is heraldic and I don't want to look like a friggin' leprechaun all the time. But I put a bunch of crap in the armory to make up for it :wink:

Yeah, I played a little Battle, which had 10-20 people. Seemed mostly how I remembered it, although I see they fixed the nudge timer; which is unfortunate for me because I crutched heavily on spamming the shield neutral nudge.


So the rumors were true... I passed them off as mere fantasy since NA2 couldn't have possibly been alive and we all know that Phew only plays siege.  :wink:
I miss Siege; that game mode remains the funnest game I've ever played, and never got old. Battle is a bit more tolerable with the early flags, although HAs still ruin it.

Glad you're still around Jona; is there some other game people are playing that I should know about? I've been so busy I haven't played a computer game in like a year.

So after a year-ish hiatus, I logged on to see that 1) they finally added my favorite armor (Ritterbruder), but unfortunately 2) the m0d is dead. Oh well, at least I can stand around on an empty server looking awesome.

I loomed one and put it in the armory if anyone else wants to play "Lonely Dress-up Simulator", i.e. cRPG circa 2016.

The only thing siege was missing was Phew and some other HG's (or BoO's, whatever they call themselves nowadays).

I aint dead, but my ping is always 140+ now and I'm too busy to play anyway. Hopefully NA will come to the same realization as EU (that siege is the best way to ride cRPG into the sunset), and I'll be able to pop in soon.

This map was fun/nostalgic the first time after it was re-added, but it really is an awful map. It takes attackers like 2 minutes to push the siege ramp up the hill, then all the fighting happens on the ramp. Now that we all got to play it a few times, I think it's time to retire it for good.

Also, could the conquest maps be reduced to 1 round each? The losing conquest team often mass-quits, and over an hour of the same map is too much. Also, banner stacks can seriously ruin conquest.

I know even a few ladders would probably unbalance most current maps, but I still can't help missing them.

Maybe we should have a "Siege Ladder" event for a week or weekend so people can purge their nostalgia for ladders and be reminded of all the exploits that ladders enabled. But again, I'd rather they improve the xp/gold rewards on siege first.

The last thing we need is one more thrower in siege, battle, anywhere...

Years back, my shielder heroes were Rusty and Turboflex (agility sword/board and str axe/board+jarids, respectively). So for most of my cRPG existence, I tried to play a Frankenstein of these two opposite playstyles (agility sword/board+throwing axes). Throwing secondary adds a lot of fun/utility for minimal weight/skill pt/wpp investment. Chucking axes down a ladder on siege defense adds fun to the first ~30s of the round that would otherwise be boring.

Throwing is pretty much a direct counter to agility 2h and pole (i.e. you), which are the classes that by far cause me the most trouble. As a shielder, I'm never particularly concerned about throwers, other than the like 3 dedicated throwers that know how to throw through/over shields (Chucky/Artie/Xeen).

If you are nostalgic for ladders on siege, you must have forgotten about how attackers ninja-capped with some obscure ladder location almost every round back in the day. Not to mention the frequent instances of abuse/trolling (unreachable ranged, defenders setting up above the flag so it can't be capped, etc) that required constant attention from admins. Maybe once in a blue moon ladders actually improved gameplay, but 99% of the time they solely caused grief.

With no ladders, most maps have nice progressive gameplay with gates/ladders (permanent)/doors/choke points/etc that encourage teamwork and communication. With ladders, defenders just have to sit bored at the flag. If I wanted to sit around doing nothing most of the time, I'd play Battle.

Siege doesn't need ladders, it just needs xp/gold rewards that are on par with Battle. Valor is at least 20 times less frequent, and average multi is much lower due to rampant team-switching. Fix the rewards, and NA2 will be populated more often. Not to mention, no one wants to help get the server populated, because with less than 8 players it's just duel server with upkeep. 

FYI, the remaining NA2 diehards (led by Jona) recently voted on maps to remove from the rotation, and Fips enacted our requests. So the rotation is much better now (the conquest maps still need to be reduced to 1 round though, IMHO).

Yeah, I'm with Plumbo on calling you out on this one. Who is your str character? 

Nothing breaks the game right now more than a lvl 37 agility polearmer, especially with a staff. I don't think the Warband devs had 104 speed weapon+234 wpf in mind when they coded this combat engine.

You killed me the other day with 2 torso hits from an unloomed iron staff (26b). I have 62 body armor, and it usually takes strength builds with ~50c weapons 3 hits to kill me. But speed bonus matters more than power strike right now.
