General Discussion / Re: HOMOPHOBIA

I agree. I find it also annoying, and I don't see why people can say that word, but not the "n word," etc.

There's no difference between the words.  They are meant to denigrate, you can pretend you're using them for something else but the result of the people that they effect is the same.

People telling the gays to get thicker skin over the word should tell blacks to get thicker skin over the n word then.  Wait -- that would come off as pretty fucking ridiculous, wouldn't it?

I'm not offended by the words, I am offended by the double standard though.

Strategus Issues / Re: Teleported on Map
« on: November 07, 2011, 06:20:01 am »
Happened to me as well, I was in Ichamur for about 2 weeks recruiting and then I checked on my status after a few days of not checking it. I noticed I was warped out of the castle and no longer had any troops but had more gold than I used to have despite not playing enough to have earned the additional Strat gold the game is displaying.  I don't understand how I was teleported out of the castle.

Decompress and put in the Modules directory of your Mount and Blade install.

General Discussion / Re: Rubberbanding a lot lately
« on: October 28, 2011, 02:11:04 pm »
I often have the same problem, even occasionally happens when attacking. I will make a very definitive left or right swing, the animation will start that way and then warp into an overhead shot.  This usually benefits me but I imagine it's the same thing I'm experiencing when I'm certain I'm blocking in the correct direction and before the strike lands but seems to go right through the block.

Doesn't happen all the time, I don't think it would be client side lag at least on my end.  I normally have 30ms or lower ping on NA and it's not spiking.

this frame rate thing - let me tell you something..

film is 24 fps
digitial video 30 fps
some is 60 fps.

"We are indeed shooting at the higher frame rate. The key thing to understand is that this process requires both shooting and projecting at 48 fps, rather than the usual 24 fps (films have been shot at 24 frames per second since the late 1920's). So the result looks like normal speed, but the image has hugely enhanced clarity and smoothness. Looking at 24 frames every second may seem ok--and we've all seen thousands of films like this over the last 90 years--but there is often quite a lot of blur in each frame, during fast movements, and if the camera is moving around quickly, the image can judder or 'strobe.'"
-Peter Jackson on The Hobbit

I'll always take more FPS just like I'll always take more DPI.

General Discussion / Re: Looking for some opinions on a long maul build
« on: October 24, 2011, 06:19:56 pm »
What I use on HeyZeus:
Str: 27
Agi: 15
Pole: 130wpf
PS: 9
Ath: 5
WM: 3

With +3 long maul I'd probably go  24 str with 6 ath

Haven't had that in game but had it last night when switching gear.  I'd really like to have this modified great helm that was merged with my kettle helmet:

Totally want that hat!

It's about time all that research of WaltF4 gets put into one thread and gets a sticky in the beginners guide or something. They are incredibly useful to minmaxers like me.

I'd prefer to see that information on the equipment screen itself.  E.g. current effective Athletics based on gear load out, effective WPF based on gear loadout...etc

I usually run around in 19,202 worth of gear unless I bring two weapons and make money most of the time at 1x.

Pretty sure that's the most current.

To see if it's a memory issue, download GPU-Z  http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ and run it before jumping in game, set it to log to a .txt file.  This will show your GPU utilization, and memory utilization -- you can then see where your video card bottleneck is, if there is one.

Game Balance Discussion / Re: Bodkins and Archery: An Inconvenient Truth
« on: October 14, 2011, 01:16:10 pm »
I think the REAL problem is that people create builds like:
30/9
10 IF
10 PS
2 Athletics
3 WM
130 2H wpf
0 ability to do anything about ranged

...and then they complain about ranged.

It's like a 1H shielder running around with a warhammer in an open field and complaining about cavalry.  Maybe you should... I dunno... get something to counter your nemesis?

"But I don't wanna adapt!  Wanna make single minded build and pwn everything with it!"

Archery is fine -- 2handers/poles need to grow a pair.

General Discussion / Re: map downloading
« on: October 14, 2011, 01:02:49 pm »
Updating a pack would just involve archiving the map directory off a server that is already up to date and uploading elsewhere to make it accessible.  Map files compress at about 40% using 7z so my 20mB SceneObj directory is close to half the size..uploading 10mB takes less than a minute.  Really wouldn't take much time/effort if some one was willing to do it.

Higher athlethics is incredibly useful. Blocking does only protect from the front and also 1 person at a time. With 5 athlethics you can't control the fight, if there are more enemies you'll die quickly due to being attacked by multiple people at the same time. 7 athlethics give you the ability to keep 1 guy inbetween you and the rest all the time, also if you sheath your weapon you can mostly just run away.

You can also dodge arrows better, get out of the way of a couched lance quicker and you can dance in and out the enemies range more easily. Atlethics is very useful.
Pretty much agree 100%.

General Discussion / Re: only ranged FF reflective?
« on: October 11, 2011, 04:39:45 pm »
Tired of seeing 2handers whine about archers.  I rarely wear plate, have no IF, and am an agility to balanced build.  Lots of projectiles one or two shot me and... I don't care.  Learn to dodge (you can zoom in as well when you're a 2hander, not that hard to see when an arrow is released), wear plate, get a shield, follow some one with a shield...there are options beyond tears.

I take way more team damage from 2handers and pole spammers than I do ranged.
