1. If you don't kill the horse, the rider will then kill you.
2. short spear on horseback? How often do you see those?
3. How many cavalry (proper ones) are going to try and kill you when there's someone waiting for them with a long pointy stick.

1: Depends, often you just get knocked over - ofcourse, if the guy is on a plated charger, then you shouldn't get in the way ofcourse. Even if you don't kill the horse, the horse will often stagger(right word?) and stop.
2: I often see people with onehand/short weapons on horseback, or horse archer who thinks they can bump you.
3: There are no long pointy stick, only another with a long one hander - that is why the cav will charge in the first place. Im not saying this will work 100%, but me and my buddy have had some succes in executing this manoeuvre.

- Cav is your weakness. You only have short weapons.....

If they have a long spear/lance yes, you dont have much of a chance - But, if they have two handed or a shortspear, I can usually get a stab in on the horse with my Long Espada, this works very well.

Even if the cav has a lance/long spear, you can still attack him. If you have a buddy, and he is standing behinde you, ready to stab, you can block the cavs attack, and let your buddy stab - this works well too.

Suggestions Corner / Heavy Board Shield - No crush through?
« on: February 12, 2012, 03:24:09 pm »
As topic says - I think this feature could improve the usefulness of the board shield, escpially during siege maps.

However, will the shield then be to powerfull? Will it be exploited? etc.

What do you think?

cRPG Technical problems / Remapping keys / macros help
« on: February 09, 2012, 02:13:10 pm »
Greetings

I'm trying to find a way, to remap the voice command keys, and in the proces, I found a program called "Autohotkey".

I got the program to work in Skyrim, and thought i could use it in MB, but for some reason it wornt. I read somewhere
that MB disable these kind of 3. party programs.

If this is the case, do anyone have a solution for my problem? Are these controls located in a .cfg file somewhere?

Cheers,

"Don't be predictable", yes but how, here are a few tips:

1. When you are attacking, make random strafe directoins, but also, move back and forth simoustainly. The main thing here is "random".
Keep walking in and out of his kick range and/or his attack range also. One mistake i tend to make is, making a leftswing while walking to the right.
Good kickers can usually anticipade this, so always, do 3-4 feints WHILE change your direction.

2. Range. It is easy to say "stay out of their range", but it is hard to do, bacause the above step has to have been mastered first.
Furthermore, if you're fighting with a short weapon, this can impossible to do.

The best defence IMO is, to anticipate when he is going to kick you, so here are a few things I do, when I get conteniously beating by a good kicker:

1. In every fight, I try to see at which combos my oppenent tries to set up a kick. I have found out, that if I run straight at my oppenent, and attacks with a left/right swing,
he wil usually kick me, since he can get a kick in before my swing hits him. However, if I do the same thing EXCEPT this time, I feint and backpadle while setting up a thrust,
I can usually get a hit in. This maneuver can be difficult with a short weapon.

2. If my oppenent keeps backpadleing, and therefore keeps getting kicks in, I'll usually run out of his range and just follow him, until he gets frustrated and charges.
Also try not to be lured into a confied space, as he will kick spam you to death, since you have no space to manoeuvre.

3. Don't attack a two hander alone, get a buddy. If you have a buddy, then he can be ready to attack if/when you get kicked - this tend to work really well, and in every scenario.

4. When you meet your oppenent dont just charge right into him, this goes for duels also. IMO, it is usually in the first attack round that I get kicked, usually because I just
rushed in, and diden't have a plan. So take your time to see you oppenents play style, you got all the time in the world(In duels anyway).

5. Duel every good kicker you can. If you dont pratice, you will never get better, and learn how to defend yourself.

My 50. cents

What gear do you use?

My build is 24/15, with:

8 Powerstrike
5 Athetics
5 Shield
5 WPF

Many people suggest a higher agility build, but I have found out, that the extra powerstrike really makes a diffrence.
But as oohillac already said, it all depends on your play style. I do think however, that you should skip the IF skill, inorder to get WPF and an extra shield skill.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Advice on Respec to Lv32 or 33 Shielder?
« on: January 18, 2012, 02:51:14 pm »
I am currently using a 24/15build:

8 Powerstrike
5 Shield
5 Athletics
5 WPF
Ironfless is not needed, since you have a lovely shield to protect you :P

I used a 21/18 before, but I think the extra powerstrike really makes all of the diffrences.

I use the Huscarlshield, and I move quite fast and can still feinth very fast with my Long Espada.

For a lvl 31+ shielder, I would pump more skill points into powerstrike for more damage, since I havent had any troubles with my speed, or shield  breaking issues(Only vs axemen)

What he said^^  8-)
