cRPG Technical problems / Character belongs to someone else
« on: November 24, 2014, 07:56:40 pm »
Hey, I decided to login back into crpg after 2 years of inactivity (guess chadz video for melee battlegrounds have something to do with that :D).
However, when i try to login in a server with my usual character, Shodan_The_Shieldbreaker, it kicks me and says "Character belongs to someone else".
Guess it's something to do with my serial key. I had one of those 5x5 steam keys but i converted it to a 4x4 key. Tried both with steam and with standalone installer of warband with the 4x4 key. Both show same error.

What is changed is Hardware Hash, as this is a different computer from what i used to play.

Any help?  TY.

PD: if chadz still visits the forum frequently, this issue is what keeps me from funding the melee battlegrounds campaign. Allow me to healthy blackmail you a bit ;)

General Discussion / Re: 32+ retirement bonuses
« on: September 09, 2012, 11:49:04 am »
The calculations some people are doing are absurd. You CAN'T get 10 loom points for retiring at 34, p.e., becase although is the same xp that you should do to retire 10 times and get 10 looms, if you go for level 34, you have actually enjoyed playing all of that xp with a superior level character. If you go retiring through all that xp, half the time  you play with a -30 level character, and the other half, with a 30 level character.

Going max level makes you play 4m xp with a -30 character, and the rest with a +30 character ... it would be unfair that you get same looms for retiring at superior levels compared to retiring normally at 31.

So the idea is ok, you get half the looms and a title, so people that have tried max leveling and somehow got bored of it, have the option to retire getting some benefits too (before, you couldn't), but not equal than retiring normally.

That is said from a lvl 34 character player view ...

General Discussion / Re: Some thoughts on the new scoring system
« on: August 24, 2012, 07:03:09 pm »
I agree that individual kills should be better rewarded, right now, giving the killing blow gives you just the amount of points you get from the damage you deal, and if the enemy is nearly dead, you get like 1 point for a kill, which is ridiculous in every way, no matter you only dealt 1 damage, it's a killing blow and therefore should be rewarded. I mean, your blow could be a 50 damage one, but as the enemy is just 1hp left, is scored as a 1 damage blow. To resolve this, a "special award" for a killing blow should be made, say, like 3 or 4 EXTRA score for a killing.

About hoplites being favoured, i think the main cause is that dealing damage to horses is too-well rewarded (12 points for killing a horse sometimes, without touching the rider), and hoplites is the class that more likely will do it. It's the same for 2h or 1h, but they will not kill horses so often, so that's why they don't get the score. Pikers are in the same group of hoplites here, no need for a shield.

Having said that, Bjorn, your perception of Shielders being score-magnets, is partly caused by EU having great shielders ;D. Survibavility is a really important factor in this game, and shielders have a good amount of that.

Suggestions Corner / Re: 2H thrower?
« on: August 13, 2012, 01:48:23 am »
It's funny to see that when someone suggest a new weapon, they normally suggest it with overgrown properties.

Every throwing weapon is really BAD when comparing to their 1h or polearm counterparts in terms of usability (throwing axes when used 1h are short and not damaging, jarids and throwing jabelins are short and slow), anyway, here you are suggesting a weapon that is even better than one that yet exist in the class you suggest: the fighting axe.

So my suggestion to you: STFU and use one slot for the fighting axe, don't forget to use it 2h mode ....

I REALLY tried to be constructive, but your suggestion provokes only destruction.

Announcements / Re: New version: 0.287

I don't like it.

Scoreboards are just an e-penis grow formula. They are when they are simple, they are when they are complicated...

Now you have a "difficult" formula that evidently favors one class, whose e-penises have grown in one day. There will be tweaks and then another class will have their own e-penises grown.

At last we will reach a point where "someone" (guess who) will decide it is balanced ... though it's not, so everything will be the same as always, but with a lot of unnecesary work in between ...

My advice: leave e-penises as they are ... after all, they are electronic ...

Voted for Dieler, a tough decission between him and kinn, but Dieler is more versatile in the end.

And I'd like to nominate myself as best Spanish Player, though I don't know if someone would be with me on this  :D, just consider myself a decent-mid leveled shielder (though i break very well  :D)

volunteer!

I don't care about crashing when i have x5, in fact is the same when my wife calls me for "those thing women consider important, though they're not" so I have to leave the game and my precious x5. I'm an "unable to manual-block" shielder. playing since the latter months in 2010.

My specs:

Intel Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
4gb ram
Ati 6950 2gb
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits
1920*1080 with every eye-candy setting on.

Steel Pick.

12 str requirement for the top damage-dealer 1h is ridiculous. Also mostly invisible.

'In official tournaments'. As far as I'm aware we play for leisure.

As i said, latter on, valve got onto the thing and changed it so you couldn't gain that advantage in public servers.

It doesn't matter if it's official or not, some players unfair thinking doesn't have to ruin everyone else's possibilities and fun.

Trying to justify what's clearly an unfair advantage has a name, EXPLOITING, and as far as I know, exploiting is prohibited in this mod by the rules. Also doesn't talk anything good about you ...

Now it comes to my mind when Counter-Strike source was released (long ago), in official tournaments, dx7 mode was banned, because it allowed you to have better visibility through fog effects, compared to dx8 and dx9 modes.

Latter on, i think Valve removed completely the option to run the game in dx7 mode (though i'm not sure about this last thing).

So it's more or less the same case, a performance-oriented setting was banned because of the unfair advantage it granted.
