While not strictly related to "epic" can we get some information on horses/mounted combat development?

I read on the other topic that the combat early access alpha will not have them, which in my opinion is really a pity; I think mounted units in warband are a huge part of the gameplay and of the balance of the game itself(along with ranged and melee).

I feel like having only ranged and melee in battles not only would be pretty shallow gameplay wise, but wouldn't allow a proper balance between ranged and melee.

I think a problem with the boss design in mid-lategame is that some of their movesets can be facetanked while spamming to deal heavy damage to them while losing almost nothing as estus is extremely fast and plenty avaiable like

However that one is really well designed and punishing if you fuck up, took me so many tries I lost count, I went to his area first when i was level 60-something and got killed 10 times before calling it a day and switching to another area, killed him today at sl94 but it still took me way too many tries even using straight sword R1s, yoloed it at the end after in a try I got the stagger-riposte on him somehow mid phase 2.

He definitly takes the cake for me not only as hardest boss of the game but also as most fun as the atmosphere when you fight him is just awesome.

Found out after 10 invasions (one or two vs stamina hackers) that my spears do jack shit vs players. Maybe lightning split damage is ass, or maybe just those spears are garbo vs other players. Will have to respecc or just find another good faith weapon.
faith seems to be kinda fucked in this game along with most builds that have either int, faith or a mix of both, I think the worst part is that most "holy" swords (like astora/lothric/sunlight sword)require faith to be used but don't naturally scale with faith whatsoever

If anyone is remotely interested in pvp and being generally a bundle of sticks between levels 55-80 I cannot reccomend enough the aldrich faithful covenant, with the covenant item you invade most of the times on lower level hosts (you can invade hosts up to 39 levels lower than you) and you get a ganking mate(no friendly fire also) of your covenant while the host is often alone due to being in the starting area after the previous boss (the covenant doesn't trigger the blue police).The 2v2 when the host has a friend are also extremely fun.

add that to the fact that the host is often in the

and you get the most unfair(and fun) covenant.

I think it's the most I've ever enjoyed a covenant in any souls game, it's extremely scummy and I love it.

Bought on a reseller site, so I have to suck up torrents instead of the official Steam preload  :lol:
same, I got it on cdkeys as a friend of mine and I still have to receive the key.

it seems like most sites, even resellers, already handed out the keys, I'm feeling kinda sad as my internet needs about 7-9 hours to download 20gb so I'll not be able to play on release night(I didn't bother torrenting the preload files :/ )

Probably the only game I'm hyped for, played 100+ hours on das2 mostly with a hybrid 2h + close range pyromancies (great combustion and flame whip spiced up the gameplay quite a bit especially in pvp)

from what I'm reading it seems that this time they made magic overall shit so probably gonna go full melee.

not exacty thrilled about estus being extremely fast also, seems like it could kill invasions really quickly in the game lifespan.

if questions are allowed I was wondering: for the "instant battle" mode is a levelling system(maybe with less grind) similar to crpg with something like proficiencies or points to spend being developed where we can have an personal build specialized in something?

my two cents: while the point of the video is to show the ai and it seems solid on the video I think

animations look silly(but I guess that's normal considering there's a lot of work to be done)

sounds are quite bad, I don't know if those are the one you guys recorded with real weapons or placeholders  but to me it seems like two people are duelling with forks

on another topic please give to us plebs a pay2alpha version so people who want to help with the developing of the game with their suggestions/opinions can post them

I don't wanna be pessimistic, but it's probably not gonna make it by kickstarter alone if there isn't additional mainstream pr stuff/publicity.

also the contribution of the crpg community alone as everyone here I'm sure believes will be not even 1/3rd of the total the project aims at.

trending at 140k at the moment, however that is taking into account the starting boost(1st day) of the campaign and not considering that the slowest kickstarter period for a project is between the 10th to 20th day(for 30 days projects).

that said if just one/two big youtubers were to bring attention to this it would probably assure the success of the project.

being an old crpg fanatic I just hope this will succeed, best of luck to all you guys, looking forward to play the alpha!

i like this mod i played it nonstop for over a year now but i start to play it less and lately quiting after one round cause of 20 archers on one hill shooting youre "FUN" away

don't bother saying take a shield cause its boring as hell and even then you get shot by 20 archers kiting around you

you play crpg just from a year ago, I can assure you ranged got just weaker with time, but there is still this bullshit "nerf archermy old friends" going on the forum
archers were completely balanced when I played this mod(I quitted about 3 months ago), there are just frustrated 2h heroes&co complaining about them
if you find using a shield boring than you have to expect to be the target of ranged

try using an archer and doing as good as the average retarded 2h hero or cav(for the records I played as cav for 80% of my crpg playtime), than come back complaining

from someone who played since august 2010(the heirloom patch came like 1/2 months after I started playing the game)yeah battle was incredibly hilarious with a lot of different retarded builds and people trolling with a meta still not evolved(I remember when I was like a level 28 archer and I was still getting k/d of 3 becouse of the massive imbalance with ranged being retardedly strong and plates spam)
but I still think chadz managed to save this mod with the heirloom patch and 3 month later the upkeep patch/level31 "cap" giving this game an unexpected lenght in term of playtime(and hopefully this mod will stay alive until m&b2)so kudos to him

just for the record I played lancer cav from january 2011(when we had the upkeep patch and I had to change my char, the 4 months before I was an archer)
I almost don't play crpg anymore(respecced my char for fun to a 2handers since I think they have a retarded stab a month ago and still I've probably played 10 hours from that moment)

I can clearly say from an experience of over a year and a half that cav is simply op atm(and 2h heroes come close second).
back in january 2011 it was balanced since everyone had access to the "lol poket 1 slot 265 reach pike, don't you dare come next to me even if I look like an easy kill"
after the patch that introduced the slot limitation cav has always been op, back after the slot patch it was just redicolous(and any competent cav was able to outreach a dgs stab abusing the retarded "full right" lance angle from native)

after the lance turn radious cav was decently nerfed but it was still op, even me(and I was an average/mediocre player) could be on top of the scoreboard almost always using my champion courser and masterwork heavy lance.

and to all of you who says "it's cus u no aware idiot"to people who die by cav it's simply not like that.
a good cav can take 1 on 1 almost every class, and a good cav will be able to beat most of 2h aware players on 1 on 1 if they try to outstab you(only few skilled ggs and dgs user can outreach a skilled cav player)and if they block it simply turns out to be an endless lolbump(and some cav player can still bumplance).
and that's just retarded since cav main strenght is oneshoting and getting kills on unaware people or players occupied with melee close combat, and it's not supposed at all to be able to openly fight 1vs1 and win.
also now with an heirloomed destried you get so many kills off bumps that you feel silly for those melee players(I used a +3 destrier from when the courser was nerfed)
also the heavy lance gets redicolously good when heirloomed(it's a 12%base damage increase, as opposed to other swords, for example the flamberge get a 6.5%increase fully loomed)and the speed bonus makes the damage increase even more relevant, and horses are also one of the most worthy thing to loom.

to sum up I think those could be some fixes to some problems of the class:
nerf heavy lance lenght by 5 points(bringing hl to 185, l to 180 and ll to 175)
nerf heavy lance damage by 1
nerf lance damage by 1 to prevent lance getting too popular and bringing decent variety to cav
nerf bump damage slightly
give a moderate damage to horses that have to rear against objectives

other kinds of cav(1h cav)are balanced and shouldn't be touched imo
also imo the lance animation shouldn't be changed, cav duels are all about timing your lance to hit on the last moment of the lance animation and that was a skill implying factor that I always liked

ah and horse internal balance should be revised(every horse is simply sub par to the destrier atm)
