Mount and blade is the only game on market, that comes the closest to how medieval warfare really was, I and mean other games are like way way back there in the darkness...

If you want this hard enough, make your own mod/game, have you consider this maybe? But It will be hard to implement all the moves like the other guy said, M'n'B is smooth and simple, very effective.

Anyway I'm new to Mercs and I like it because there's no grind involved, I'm very short of spare time these days - very, that's the only reason besides minor things like updated models/textures, costum banners, etc.

But I miss Strategus type of open world with countless possibilities, epic fun on weekends.

Either Mercs could come up with something similar (if they care), or cRPG will make an epic comeback - which I hope for! in conjunction with Bannerlord maybe...

PS: I'm trying to get new players from Mercs and PW to give cRPG a go, but most don't like grinding. Younger audience, guess it's Evolution...

Nobody replied with the more obvious "they play Mercenaries mod", which too is probably the cause. The M mod looks fresh, better textures,..

I don't know the story behind Mercs, but why are those mods so similar? Seems like Mercs are the lite version of cRPG (no leveling), yet they lack the deepness of cRPG - Strategus...

Kicking is usefull for countering shielders when they want to facehug you and there's no mercy for shield users.

From historical marshal arts point of view, the starting attack position is bollocks and it's a stupid gameplay mechanic if hiting a wall behind you is it's intention.

Well it certainly hasn't been tried. But it's the psychology effect I'm interested in. Players knowing maulers can't block, how would they react?

When I use maul, I rarely block, I time my attacks and usualy stay behind some shielder or other team mate, and then shoot out when the opportunity arises.

If you go for same clothing, go for same weapons too, as far as I remember, duelists always had same type of weapons and armour. Maybe there could be two types of duels, one as you mentioned and one for trainings.

I would  love to see this implemented, we agi-whores have no good armours to go with. This would give us something pretty to wear.

I don't hate maulers, I use kick, plus I use pike alot too so this is not buff me up thread. It's give mauls and pikes a support role.

As I see it, it would put more emphasis on the cooperation between players, but it seems that this against the "I'm the man" mentality.

It's just a thoguht tho, don't get frightened.

The idea is to take away maulers the ability to block; one point being that the weapon is probably too heavy to block with efficiently, second; they take away YOUR ability to block them so it acts as a trade off of some kind.

The main purpose of a maul as I see it is to counter shielders and I don't see maulers blocking very much, they spam most of the time.

And same could go for a pike. While pikes were used to block other pikes, they would certainly be droped if the enemy came too close. How can one block a sword with a 3m pole and then attack back...

You maulers want it to be even easier for you huh?

It's the funny walk back animation problem. The feet position of a europan marshal artist is made so he can move back faster and this is actualy an authentic move - step back and evade, then counter attack. Watch for the trees tho...
