Suggestions Corner / Re: A buff for agility
« on: July 12, 2013, 02:15:03 am »
A passive buff to Agi like that would be perfect and would help to bring it in line with Str passives (HP, weapon/armor use, damage).

Why does my original post have +0 but the guy agreeing with me has +7? You think I make these suggestions for improvement to the game? Give me my renown you infamous bastards

1handers are SO much better with ~21 agility and blunt type weapons, its one of the most OP classes in cRPG right now.  Sprint around spamming knockdown and nudge with 7-8 athletics and super high damage blunt maces or hammers. Its a wonder this doesn't catch on in NA more, but its because most people are bad

21 agility, 1hander, super high damage? Is this a level 36 character with a +3 warhammer?

Suggestions Corner / Guisarmes

BACKGROUND:
In the cRPG polearms department we find some fairly under-used weapons that had a special purpose in warfare. These weapons include the voulge, ranseur, english bill, fauchard, bec de corbin, glaive, fork, and some of the poleaxes. Most of these weapons can be loosely classified as guisarmes. Guisarmes were polearms that came in many forms but all shared a dual functionality -- tearing armor and pulling horsemen out of their saddles. However, they often lacked the cutting power of other infantry polearms.

THE IDEA:
Where you would find your weapon stats, a new stat would be added, titled "Guisarme." Guisarme weapons can pull riders out of their saddles. When a rider is pulled out of his/her saddle, he would simply play the falling-off-of-horse-when-horse-dies animation and end up on the ground. I was separated on how to achieve this, so I came up with a few ideas (feel free to share your own if you like the idea!):
1. a chance, similar to knockdown, on any hit that deals (x) amount of damage
2. a higher chance that only occurs on held attacks dealing (x) amount of damage
3. a 100% chance if the damage dealt bypasses a threshold based on an algorithm involving riding skill, agility, and max HP

Since guisarmes were not designed solely for fighting foot soldiers, the damage of guisarme weapons should be reduced slightly.

The application of this idea would provide new strategy for foot soldiers fighting against cavalry and provide a much more interesting fighting style in close-quarters cavalry combat. It would also bring out new weapon specializations which the cRPG market is currently lacking. I hope you considered this idea and please reply with any feedback!

What a brilliant idea. What next, Eskimo gear?

We already have that covered.

Tribal Warrior Armor + Pilgrim Hood + Hunter Boots + Throwing Lance

Suggestions Corner / Re: long 1h mace
« on: July 10, 2013, 10:24:42 pm »
You don't understand.  A mace that big would not be able to be used in one hand effectively.  Try holding a sledgehammer in one hand and swing it.  It is not possible to do it comfortably and efficiently.

Yet somehow the goedendag and morningstar function as one handers when you hold a shield?

Suggestions Corner / Re: A secondary mode for bows; the arrow thrust
« on: July 09, 2013, 11:47:44 am »
You want to chamber a big lance by a small arrow thats made of wood and a steel (or whatever) head? :p

No less realistic than doing the same with a practice dagger!

"The main-gauche is used mainly to assist in parrying incoming thrusts, while the dominant hand wields a rapier or similar longer weapon intended for one-handed use. It may also be used for attack if an opportunity arises."

Everything below are just ideas to get the ball rolling
The main-gauche is a 0-slot shield. It cannot block projectiles or couched lances. While blocking, the weapon is held diagonally in front of the bearer. If the bearer is holding a block with this weapon and then performs a nudge, the main-gauche will perform a stab dealing low pierce damage -- this attack is not blockable unless you have a shield or perform a chamber. If the bearer is not holding a block you will perform a left-sided, low blunt damage swing that can be blocked by a left-block or shield. I was a bit separated on how the main-gauche should break, so I've put two possibilities below.
Idea 1: upon breaking, the gauche is dropped at the feet of its bearer with 50% reduced HP. If it is picked up and broken again, it is gone for good. "Bonus damage versus shields" does not apply.
Idea 2: breaks like a normal shield (once its HP is gone, its gone for good). "Bonus damage versus shields" does not apply.

Please include any suggestions for improvement or write what you think, I really want to do some proper rapier/espada style dueling!

Suggestions Corner / A secondary mode for bows; the arrow thrust
« on: July 09, 2013, 03:21:14 am »
Press X while holding a bow and you'll have the bow in one hand, the arrow in the other. You can now perform a thrust attack with the arrow that does low damage. In the spoilers below I've put what I think the stats of the secondary mode should be. Similar to a dagger, you cannot block with the arrow/bow, but you can chamber. I thought of this idea while watching an archer get lanced by a horseman and I just had the thought, "what if?"

Take our shitty (troll?) friend Miley who went 100 kills 5 deaths in a recent strat siege. He just sits behind a while and spams overheads.

Beginner's Help and Guides / What is the significance of gen 16?

I always hear people talking about gen 16 and how you should go on to level 33 and what not, what is the significance of this gen?

They already do break. Why would you otherwise repair it at round end all the time? visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I think we're on a different page :P

Yes to all of this. I recently went into the duel server and dueled Allers who had adapted a strategy where he would hold a one hander, nudge you, then whip out a great maul and overhead. Can confirm it is fucking retarded.

Suggestions Corner / Re: Buff (yes, buff) Ranged scoring
« on: June 28, 2013, 05:30:02 pm »
Actually archers are the ones who go into battle with no armour, having little chance of surviving any kind of meele encounter :P

Which is why they used a range weapon. To avoid a melee encounter.

4) Having lances break on couches, but not necessarily every single time rather based on some algorithm involving wpf, armor, and whatever else may be relevant, seems like a good idea. I don't think it should deliver less damage when it breaks though, it broke for a reason (see: delivering damage).
5) Five. Things veered into crazytown on five. But...... I love it.

Well, realistically, a lance would break just about any time it impacted a person. It still should do damage or the lance would be useless against heavy armor, which would just be silly.
Edit: misinterpreted your post, sorry; you're probably right it should do full damage!

And yes, it did get a bit crazy around 5, but we have to convince people that cavalry wasn't getting nerfed :P
