You've probably seen perhaps up to 12(?) or so different accounts connect from my IP over time. I have LAN parties periodically at which we play a variety of multiplayer games. Other than that I've got two brothers who play the game, one of whom doesn't live with us but plays here sometimes. Last I knew he wasn't banned, so I won't list him here.

I'm one of the General's lan attendees, but I also play a bunch from home.  I think your "fancy new tool" needs some work.  :?

Strategus Issues / Wrong color for Snow Plains

The notes from chadz say snow plains should be colored #ffffff in the geo_calradia map. The color actually on the map is #94e2dc.  This is confirmed since I am currently in snow plains, but my speed is appropriate for plains.

edit: Alternatively, the notes have the wrong color, but the db has the wrong speed.

lol, half. yes, one hit, by a lvl 1 char should definetly cripple me in full armor, makes perfect sense.

If this idea is actually implemented in some form I expect the loss of skill to be scaled based on how damaging the hit is.

Getting hit in the legs should reduce your athletics skill by half.
Getting hit in the body should reduce power strike/draw/throw by half.
Getting hit in the head should make you blind or deaf or dead.

Forums that are nested more than one level deep get missed because they are not listed on the main forum index.  For example, the Strategus specific Buy/Sell forums would see more traffic if they were siblings to the regular Buy/Sell forums instead of children.

I would just love to see a lower-tier heavier horse. Something between the rouncy and the destrier. For 1h and 2h cav there just isn't really a choice at lower tiers.

I used to have a Heavy Rouncey and she was great.  But then horse heirlooms were rebalanced a few patches ago.  :cry:  There isn't a lot of space for a whole new tank-class horse between the rouncey and the destrier.  I'd rather see the rouncey with 4 more armor points and cost a bit more gold.  That would also open up space for changing the steppe horse in to a difficulty 2 horse.

I guess this thread should have gone in the game balance forum.

All the armored horses have essentially the same speed / maneuverability ratio. See on this chart how the lower difficulty horses have varied speed and maneuverability, but from the destrier on up it is not varied at all.  Speed is always a point or two less than turning ability and that's it. A very boring progression.

I'd rather see armored versions of the courser and arabian. Like so:

Charger
hit points: 120
body armor: 45
difficulty: 5
speed: 44
maneuver: 37
charge: 38

Cataphract Horse
hit points: 120
body armor: 40
difficulty: 5
speed: 37
maneuver: 46
charge: 34

Also, there is no reason to have 4 horses at difficulty 3.  I suggest taking the Steppe Horse (which no one uses anyway) down to difficulty 2, and the Sumpter to difficulty 1, each with appropriate nerfed stats. Then having 1 point in riding will not be entirely pointless.

It has come to my attention that the Practice Longsword is set with the itp_two_handed flag, despite having the 1h animation flags enabled.  This prevents it from being used with a shield, one of the features the real Longsword has.

The code that cmp was posting on irc a few months ago showed different numbers than just this flat 30% you guys are going off of.

AFAIK:
cav with a 2h does 85% damage.  If this were a polearm then it only does 85% on top of the existing 85%. If the weapon is a true two handed weapon (can't use a shield) then it is further reduced by 10%.  Same goes for using a shield, cav or not.

Speedwise, 2h/pole cav gets a -15 speed penalty, not 15%, a flat 15 points. If its a true two handed weapon then another 5 points are taken off.

Also, Y U NO LONGSWORD?

  • Add a show/hide button for the left side equipment category section. The filters below run off the bottom of my laptop screen and are then obscured by the links on the lower left corner. Easy since you already use jQuery.
  • Separate the damage filter by thrust/swing. It's hard to find things with piercing swings since almost everything does piercing thrusts.
  • Add a flag filter for usable on horseback, knockdown, etc.
  • Order inventory page by item type.  Better yet do it in javascript and have a selection of type, name, price, heirloom level.
  • Show two digit precision for item weight.  According to item_kinds1.txt, those 0.3 and 0.8 weight items are really 0.25 and 0.75.
  • Add a button/hover to show a picture of both the offered and requested item in the market so that we can identify items with identical names.
  • This might already be fixed (I only saw it on a friend's screen so I cannot check myself) avoid letting the browser auto fill the password for the Skip the Fun form.
