Beginner's Help and Guides / 1h/2h speed and wpf?

Hi all
Since starting c-rpg mod I've gone 1h+shield mainly cos I suck at 2h blocking and a shield buys me 3-4 hits to kill someone else before luck comes into play.
The quest I have is at what point does the wpf actually start effecting things? On some random battles last night I picked up the huge 2h samurai Nodachi a couple times and waded into battle for the lolz..suprisingly I was hacking away faster than I can with my 1h long espada despite the 2h having a speed rating that's 8 lower.
I have 122wpf in 1h and 1wpf in 2h so I'd assume the 1h should be a lot faster right? Is there some reason it's worth continuing to throw points into 1h when I can just buy a decent 2h and hack faces with no points thrown into it. The shield boosts my survivability a small amount though it takes 3-5 hits to kill most things where the 2h seemed to 1shot most people in the way also boosting survivability.
I'm currently at 16 strength/12 agility if that makes any difference to things.
