I believe theres some code that makes armour only act as between 50-100% of the value you see, so its not actually reducing damage by a set amount.
All the numbers I gave were averages. I might be retarded for not specifying that.

A Treatise on the Arms Vs. Armour of Calradia.

Often, We see warriors with the most extravagant arms, Garbed in the most rudimentary armor. I have taken upon myself to try to understand the logic behind this schism in expenses.

First, I decided to I would divide arms and armor into “Price Pairs” That is, Most costly weapon to most costly armor, least to least, and middle to middle.
Not that I chose only “Typical” armors, that is, armors with similar Body to leg armor ratios to others. No robes or Mameluke mail!
Also, I chose polearms with cutting damage, Because polearms do the most are the most expensive, and cutting damage is the most common.

Great Long Axe -  Gothic Plate
Long War Axe -  Sarranid Elite Armor
Long Axe -  Druzhina Lamellar Armor
Voulge  - Peltastos Armor

Each weapon goes down in price proportional to the most expensive choice, as does the armor. It is worth noting that the most expensive armor costs about double the most pricey weapon, the the cheaper you go, the closer the prices.

So, I next found the damage Inflicted on an “Average armor” (I decided 45, this guy is melee.) opponent, by each weapon.
This is damage is done by a 27/12 build. Fairly typical.

Great Long Axe  37.75
Long War Axe  36.55
Long Axe  34.15
Voulge  26.2

Now, I find how much damage is TAKEN, by wearing each armor. The weapon they are up against is the long axe, swung by the same guy as before.
Gothic Plate

27.65 (64% reduction) (277% effective health)
Sarranid Elite Armor
29.65 (61% Reduction) (256% Effective Health)
Druzhina Lamellar Armor
32.15  (58% Reduction)  (238% effective health)
Heraldic Mail with Tabard
37.15 (52% Reduction) (208% effective health)
Peltastos Armor
46.15
No Armor (Base Damage)
76.65

Now, it's clear (Both common sense and as shown by numbers) that you ought to spend enough money to have BOTH a weapon, and armor. The heart of the matter is, finding how much to spend on each.
If we take it for granted that having double HP means you fight twice as long, we can find a “Score” for each weapon/armor combo.

Gothic Plate
Great Long Axe
(37.2K) Score=104.57
Druzhina Lamellar Armor
Long Axe
(19K) Score=81.28

Clearly, Gothic plate and great long axe is better, but do you want to spend dough on armor or weapons?

“Balanced”
Druzhina Lamellar Armor
Long Axe
(19K) Score=81.28

Armor Heavy
Sarranid Elite Armor
Voulge
(18.4K) Score=67.1

Weapon Heavy
Heraldic Mail with Tabard
Great Long Axe
(18.6K) Score=78.65

What the numbers indicate here, is that for optimal theoretical damage output, you should be spending Just about (Or maybe just slightly less than) twice as much on armor as weapons. This goes for body armor only, once you add in head and boots, (Side note, only use leather gloves, unless they are loomed) you should be paying about ¾ your money for armor.

It's just a sugquestion. As for realism, I don't see anything wrong with armor where made by a cheapers smith, where more metal is a substiture for skill.

The idea is to make it a lot heavier, rather than more expensive, for the sake of balance. Imagine if tincans were 2/3 their current speed. I think It would be fine.

I've had this idea for a while: what if you could play a tin can, and not go broke?
I played a 36/3 polearmer in the past, and I loved how it felt when arrows bounced off, and puny weaklings had their blows glance off, leaving me unscathed. I did NOT LOVE how much Heavy plate armor cost me, and how I could only have fun half the time. So I got to thinking, how could you make Heavy armor cheap, without breaking the game?

Then, I watched Hobo With A Shotgun.

HOLY SH** HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SHI**?
THESE GUYS ARE WEARING GODDAMN SLABS OF STEEL.
THE HOBO'S SHOTGUN IS NOT EFFECTIVE.

But, How can anyone move in something like that? Realistically?
Answer: They can't, not easily.
Would it be CHEAP to Make though?
YES. And this would apply to Medieval smiths too.

So, how about an armor, that you need to be Very High STR to use, and slows you down like hell, but is CHEAP?
You get to be a tank, you just don't get to be a tank all over the map. Think turtles.

Milanese, What I feel is the Tankiest "Normal" armor.

Proposed stats for this "Crude Plate" Armor
(click to show/hide)

Much slower than milanese, But with the same protection. Much cheaper, But only STR crutcher tanks can even wear it.
Thoughts?

So, Send me a message If it's cool If I join back up.

You can hit 100p with a +3 arb and +3 steal bolts, it's not bad.

Go 15/27 pure ath and WM and blow peeps away.
My build is yes that.  The Exactly.
sooo mw xbow set should have some like 120p dmg????
wtf.....
Needs some of tweaking, maybe a little more damage. longer load reload. less 12 speed.

Dark secret: The whole first post was an elaborate setup for the picture in the second post.
Only thing is, when I came up with the stuff in the first post, I actually got into it and decided to be serious.

Also, Lol, ads for me when I look at my character.

So, After playing a gen of Xbow, (And archer, and also half a gen of thrower) I was thinking about the realism of ranged weapons in the game, And how to make them more realistic.  Making a weapon realistic is easy, the hard part is keeping them balanced in some way, If the game was entirely realistic, I have an Inkling feeling that there would be an awful lot more long bowmen.  So, Ultimately, I was thinking about how to find a nice balance between the two.
First, Real life fact check, versus CRPG
Crossbows...

So, I propose a windlass operated siege bow! made for sniping almost exclusively! Stats would be something like this...
missile speed: 65
weight: 8
accuracy: 98
difficulty: 18
speed rating: 12
missile speed: 65
max ammo: 1
thrust damage: 110 pierce
slots: 3

Damage, Almost always a one hit K/O, Except on full tincans, and shielders.
Weight slows down kiting.
Accuracy makes it viable for Long range sniping, missile speed as well.
Speed rating should be aimed for a 30-40 second reload, 4X or 5X  the arbalest.
3 slots makes it a dedicated weapon, you would get 13 shots, and a dagger. So make it count!
This weapon makes dedicated xbows more viable, Because now they are sniping exclusively, and it makes them a prime target for can and melee guys.

Sorry for rambling rant, I do that.

Battles aren't long enough to exhaust a trained soldiers, so stamina is un realistic at such small scales.

Now keep in mind: 1) I am a lazy fuckhead in terrible physical shape and 2) Soldiers and Knights back then were trained and in good shape, as such they could swing their swords for far longer than me.

Knights, Yes. Peasants? No. Malnourishment and lack of training means no stamina! Yes, I can swing a 1H sword for like, 2 mins straight, But seriosly, go pick up an axe, you can go maybe 30-40 secs for being winded.
