Could this be put in the market place? I just made what I thought was an amazing trade, only to learn that it's against the rules.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Making Money

This is mainly about the marketplace. In order to get a masterwork weapon, you need to retire three times. With 2000 as the average XP per minute, this takes 74 hours (decreasing slightly with each new generation). So, over 200 hours of playing cRPG just to get one item to MW.

That's why I'm wondering if there's any way to make money from messing around with the marketplace. I managed to get a +3 item in exchange for a +1, only to be informed that this is against the rules. So, exploiting bad offers is out. The fact that this rule is hidden away on the forums instead of being visible in the marketplace itself is rather annoying. I was going with the assumption that the marketplace is a cruel world of cutthroat capitalism.

Has anyone managed to make money through trading within the rules? If so, is it something that requires a large amount of money or loom points to begin with? I want to figure out if I should try to make money from it, or just be content to slowly raise the level of my sword. Or even just give the bloody loom points away.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: High Strength Shielder

This idea seemed all well and good until I hit level 20 and remembered how long it takes to get to level 30. Then I remembered how long it takes to get from 30 to 31. I'm not too keen on playing 50 hours of cRPG with 3 athletics and shield.

Back to some sensible build, then.  :(

Infantry fights are always the best. While it can be satisfying to cut down a rider and see his horse run off into the distance, or to plough through a group of archers (Damn the archers that are good at melee!), there's nothing as fun as a fight between infantry. As a shielder, taking on a group of enemies always feels good. Blocking attacks coming at you from all around, striking at some unaware guy who's running towards you aimlessly with his weapon chambered. Those are fun moments. Having a shield break and having to manual block is exciting as well.

The worst deaths are the ones where I do something stupid. Like block when there's an enemy with a crush-through weapon. Or letting go of block when the animation looks finished, rather than when it actually hits.

Also, tkers who don't apologize.

How would you even go about role playing in cRPG? The story is: Look! Other team! Kill them!
It's pretty hard to get into that setting. I'm not even sure where the mod takes place. Are we in Calradia or Earth? Or Age of Empires land? That's where samurai fighting vikings is perfectly acceptable.

I did quite well with my first gen character, but I don't really want to be a standard shielder again. Right now I'm 15/9 and not doing too badly, so I figure I'll just keep boosting strength and see what happens.

Anyways, I'll probably follow San's advice since he's one of the better shielders in North America. Plus, I can always respec.

Beginner's Help and Guides / High Strength Shielder
« on: December 12, 2011, 02:39:56 am »
After playing as a fairly normal shielder (24/15) for my first gen, I'm thinking of doing something a bit different:

Level 31 (8 892 403 xp)

    Strength: 33
    Agility: 9

    Skills to attributes: 12

    Power Strike: 11
    Shield: 3
    Athletics: 3
    Weapon Master: 3

    One Handed: 132

So, is this at all practical? What would be the best way to make use of the 11 power strike, and compensate for the low athletics and shield, and non-existent iron flesh?

Ideally, you develop an attitude of forgiveness equal to that of Gandhijesus... Actually, I'm pretty sure that was what I did. I don't remember ever trying to avoid getting team killed.

Axes. The terrible people who use them force me to actually manual block!

damn, them hating more than this community does O_O

Off-topic is actually a pretty great place. But most people don't play Mount & Blade at all, let alone cRPG. Also, RipperX does make way too many threads. -.-

Variety is great, so I like night time and all the different weather effects.
Also, it would be nice if the devs made a new skybox for nights, since TaleWorlds never got around to doing that. The pixely moon really needs to go.

I hate people who say sry and then dieĀ“s because he was too busy trying to please the guy he accidentally killed

I don't know, after I team-kill someone, I always feel a bit suicidal and want to get killed to make up for it.

After watching the videos, I'm pretty sure a Carpet & Staff mod would be a much better than cRPG. Or anything, really. Maybe get some flying unicorns in there as well.

The lack of shields was probably the most surprising thing I noticed when I switched from Native to cRPG.

Anyways, Go turtles!
