I'm in favor of banner balance, but dislike one sided games.

So in short, if you could count an entire banner teams "Value", then you could put 4 tincan clan mates on one team, and 8 newbies/random people on the other, and the gold would roughly be matched evenly, also it would punish people for being bad, and bringing black armor when they cant even block without a shield.

At least in theory... thoughts?

I'm not sure how this is constantly, but at least last night/earlier today i was able to get on my shiny black horse, ride up next to the archers, watch them shoot at the horse pointlessly as i slash them to pieces or beat them to death with a hammer. *Edit* I mean i actually just got off the horse and killed them, after ridding up right next to them.

The only time i've died to archers or crossbows, and i wear a tribal warrior outfit with 7 IF mind you, is when i was already wounded, or they got a lucky headshot, every other time if i lose, it's due to being out matched in a duel, i've ran naked (still with helmet and boots because they're stylish) in to battle and gotten shot by an archer for something like 30-40% of my health, when i have 0% torso armor they don't hurt enough to 1 shot me.

I actually feel bad when i kill people that cant defend themselves against me, such as high pingers, just bad players, or ranged users i walk up to who aren't smart enough to kite me.

What you all should complain about, is the fact that people can curve a pike around your big shield and stab you because of how stabbing in to the ground makes the pike magneticly stick to your face, that is actually broken, archers are just people who like to use a more "Modern" style of fighting.

Getting shot by arrows? buy a shield and a fast 1h weapon for back up, shield + weapon are two slots, so you can still use your big sword.

Getting run over by cav? buy a crossbow, bolts + crossbow are still 2 slots, plenty of room.

Getting raped by everything at once? stay in a group, or just go spec mode and complain about how bad your team is if that fails.

Name says it all, basicly a small shield that's fast, and able to resist some damage, while being around 2-3 shield skill.

Oh, and by the way, earlier i forgot to mention this, but you can be slashed, and as long as none of your critical muscles get cut, or limbs hacked off, then you'd be able to slash back, and do the same, you'll both probably die if it's deep enough within a few minutes, but battle servers don't have infection or blood loss after the fight is over to kill you, so it'd still be realistic if you only get flesh wounds.

Pro tip, auto walk while alt tabbing, i've gone AFK for a 2-3 minutes while auto walking to the ladders, or even in to a wall, and i've only auto walked in to the enemies a few times, and even survived doing it as well.

Fire lance is a firearm. Firearms have been suggested and received a blanket 'no'. Or perhaps we should make a separate thread for each and every kind of black powder weapon there is then?
Same with snare. It has been suggested many times to have weapons that have chains etc. Such as flails, whips etc. but that has been denied cause the engine doesn't support them.

Crossbows and bows both shoot pointy things, and yet they aren't the same thing, but they are very similar.

Also while flails won't work due to the way the chain will swing and act while held, a sling has a fairly simple motion, and thus it is possible to create slings which don't look like complete crap, take the cave man mod as an example, it's not perfect, but it's still nice to have, same thing with a snare, until it hits it's target all it does is spin around, just like a throwing axe does, but side ways, so it's straight until it hits, just like a throwing axe, so it's more then possible to add snares and slings, but not flails.

I don't see anything in that topic about fire lances, which aren't actual guns, if that's what you think they are.

And nothing i suggested here is out of theme or outside the time setting of cRPG's current items, nor unbalanced, unless people are really stupid and stand there and get shot/hit by them.

1: Chinese repeating crossbow: 5 shots in a row, but less damage due to the draw power being alot less then usual.

2: Chinese Single use mortar: Pretty simple, basicly a high damage one use angled rocket. impossible to aim at something under you, or that is too close to you, but a very good support weapon for sieges and battles.

3: Hand cannon: Basicly a crossbow, that does more damage but has half the range due to being impossible to aim, and uses weak early gun powder so it has issues breaking heavy shields or armor.

4: Blow gun: If you can throw war darts, why not be able to shoot little ones from a piece of bamboo? low damage, but really fast reload.

5: Chinese Fire lance: A really short ranged weapon, almost like a throwing weapon but based on gun powder for flavor, not really any better then a normal throwing weapon, but trades ammo amount for better aiming at close range.

6: Throwing Snare: (One of those things where it's two rocks and a string between them) A thrown weapon with knock down, low damage, but perfect for a support role.

Most 2h plate users are very easy to fight, and barely ever faint or do anything to make them hard to fight against, plus they are often so slow, a short sword has a decent chance against them just due to it's speed bonus, so a person with alot cheaper gear can easily rip them in to pieces.

And for the thread starter, here's a history lesson for you, the crusaders weren't just knights, play a few rounds in peasant gear as a camp follower or pilgrim and wear whatever gear fits your image of them, and then break out the heavy kit for a few rounds, then back again, also using cheaper gear boosts your speed often times, so you get a semi different play style, just due to the speed boost allowing you to be more mobile, what's wrong with being someone else for a day?

In short, upkeeps fine, without it, every one would be running around with the best gear for their build, and completely rape every RP character and newbie they could find, unless they really sucked...

In 38 body armor lamellar and leather gloves I survived a throwing lance, darkkarma or any good arbalestier would have 1 hit me.

My point exactly.

Throwing is already next to useless, and yet they want to make 2handed spam and crossbows the only good weapons in siege, have horsemen rule battle servers.

To be honest, if we're going to have anything from 1000 to 1500 AD, we need hand cannons to counter later era armor even if they have long reload and low ammo.

Adding one side of things but forgetting everything else in favor of the "cool guys gear" is just wrong.
