Weapon weight differences allow for you to strike back well before a 1h could after you manual block once. If it takes more then 1 swing to die then you have several chances to block once and get a clear chance for attack usually well before a shield can be raised.

Given this information manual blocking also has a clear advantage over shield blocking as well making 2h weapons superiour in every single way. Although shields can block in all directions manual blocking has an advantage in blocking as well making it balanced based on skill.

I had a 20 page thread before the patch about 2h spam.

It still exists, and given the arguments I faced on my thread regarding this subject, most 2h players who won't admit it are usually players who use the most over powered weapons.

Yes I can manual block, yes I do play a 1h fighter, yes I have very high wpf and a fast weapon but still get hit mid swing very often.

Certain weapons like the Long Hafted Spiked mace and other weapons of that type for example combined with the polearm stun and their speed and their range make them far superiour weapons over any 1h weapon you can select.

2h players can also put points into shield, then use said shield to protect themselves from ranged weapons.

Honestly myself and many other players agreed that 1h should have a clear speed advantage over 2h and polearm type weapons but I can see that it is MARGINAL at best. Before many of you 2h players start ranting about that comment, please be aware that you have: Superiour animations, longer range, better speed, and significantly more damage.

1h players get: a shield usable in combat which can be broken or completely bypassed.

Hence why you see most 1h players going for fast weapons to at least get a bit of a speed edge over their enemies, like the side sword and elite scimitar for example since those weapons and a handful of others are really the only viable weapon choices for 1h players.

Just as many of the polearm users say about horses (If you have a problem get a pike) but with shields I would just say get an axe and break their shield.

Then apparently all you highly skilled 2h guys can break shields and then we can see who can manual block still.

Or I guess only a mere bonus against shields isn't good enough?

Need to ignore the shield / parry completely?

I used my skill to kill an enemy on the first round on my retired character at level 1.

Now before you rant on about how no new first time player could afford a snowflake just remember, I still hit him in the head ;)

I would also really like to see something like this in effect.

Maybe not a cumulative type respec but more based on the item being unheirloomed itself.

Say for each level of heirloom to remove would cost 10k each. So a weapon that is heirloomed 3x will cost 30k gold to unheirloom and return the 3 heirloom options.

I agree with most of the ideas.

I think the wpf needs to be reworked to reward pure builds a bit more.

I also think adding a slow after a 2h/polearm swing miss would seriously reduce the spam of the non one handed melee weapons.

Real tamahagane katanas can cut down a man in half with a single swing.

Talking about realism it should be superior because it is; in terms of balance, weight and sharpness the katana is unmatched.

Edit: if you ask me the tanto, nagimake, yari and tachi should also be introduced for more variety

Too bad most slash type weapons are rendered useless against chain armour or higher.

Only way to really kill a tincan with a sword was to stab them.

Having a high strength requirement wont hinder pure strength builds that use barmace for example.

There needs to be some sort of hard cap on chance to crush through an enemies block.

Maybe something like shield armour stat (22 Armour = 22% can not be crush through cap)
For weapons make it the damage stat (35 Damage = 35% can not be crush through cap)

That would add a dynamic element to want to use slashing type weapons for manual blockers, and give a reasonable chance to not be killed after every overhand swing.

These weapons would also maintain their specific edge against shield users.

The only down side is that these consumable would be fairly unrealistic.

For those who have indulged in such things as nordic battleshrooms you will know that the effects can last many hours and would be unrealistic if they only worked for 30 seconds.

^^ I agree with the film adaptation.
