haha this is so retarded , i got nothing logical to answer to this.

But honestly, I do think there needs to be more punishment for team killing (not wounding) since the only punishment now seems to be a slap on the wrist from admins.

There is a lot of nonchalant swinging/shooting going on so maybe something like, if you team kill, you lose your multiplier? A majority of TKs are unintentional but if there is more of a punishment from it, some people may think twice before wildly swinging into a group of people.

Brilliant idea and really nice artworks. Though I have concerns;

*I really wonder how will the item texture pack size shall handle all these models. Would there be an easy way to incorporate the heirloom textures without requiring additional files ( Concerned about this, because I've heard of an items limit, which the dev. team has spoken of )

* Assuming that previous problem is solvable, would you be willing to re-model all the items in the game? Will this feature restrict players to design and suggest new items to the game? I mean, will they have to also design the heirloomed textures too ?

Apart from these, all the possible textures of heirloomed items look like a feast to the eye. Good job, great thinking mate.

- So for all of the new textures, I've either re-sized or simply added to the already existing ones. It has increased their file sizes slightly but not by much. I'd like to see if having all these different models would hit performance hard or or cause longer loading times. I plan to address the item limit whenever I run into it :P (or if anyone here knows what it actually is and could tell me so I can work around it? I'm sure I'll hit it soon though.)

- Any new items to be added to the game could be sent to me by the crpg team before or after a patch release. I love doing this stuff so if this was actually implemented into the game and they actually needed me for something I'd make sure to have a quick turn-around.

I'm more than willing to help make/edit models. What needs doing?

Kool stuff Kiaja!

I feel like there should be either a full castle or some castle ruins in the distance and some shadowy/misty figures of dudes and horses in the background though. I think it just needs a bit more to feel perfect...

Diggin' the style though.

I'd like to finish all the one-handed weapons first and then somehow get that implemented into a patch just to see if that goes smoothly before I model every single item :)

THREAD RESURRECTION!

I've been MIA for a while but the status on this project has always been: "On again, Off again"

I've been promoted at work, moved to a new apartment, and had my way with a hundred wenches in my absence yet I keep coming back to this. It's an absurd amount of work tweaking/texturing three new models for every single item, re-modeling scabbards, making materials for all the new textures, and then making LODs for each and every model but it's getting done  :wink:

Here are some samples of the 1h heirlooms thus far: COMMENTS/CRITIQUES/CRITICISM, ALL ARE WELCOME!

I went with more subtle changes for each weapon by adding simple carvings and engravings as an item heirlooms. I still like having a bit of gold on a maxed out heirloom item.

I am however having some trouble. In order to test the new models out in-game, I've been having to buy every item I want to test out. I'm sure there's an easier way but I just haven't looked into it. It's a bit of a hindrance on the workflow but if anyone could help me out that'd be swell!

I'm going to hopefully have all weapons done soon and then work on armor. I wonder if this could somehow get implemented in an upcoming patch just to see if A) it's even possible and B) how people would react to these subtle changes?

lol, I'm happy to see so much support for this! It would be really cool to actually make a significant contribution to the mod. I've been making as many new models/textures as I possibly can between work and play, however, I find myself getting caught up in cRPG for long periods of time when I should be modeling... Argh, this mod I tell you.

I'll get some more examples posted asap.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. That new game, Terraria, got a hold of me last night. Way too addicting... Also the rapture is coming this weekend so what's the point?...

Hate to be a downer, but that dagger and those pitchforks look like something straight out of Conan the Barbarian. Also don't understand the gold, diamonds and the engrave, its supposed to be battle equipment, so it should look more sturdy and powerful rather than more fancy and blingy.

lol, no worries. I think heirlooms should (realistically) look more worn and damaged after being passed down for generations and used in combat. So for the 'sake of game', I think adding some bling, (not quite Flavor Flav bling) to a maxed out heirloom will entice people to heirloom something that they otherwise would not have, such as most all of the low level gear. I'm steering away from the all gold look and more towards a "patched" gold look.

Also ...diamond necklace on peasant rags hahaha, and whats the 18th century backpack for?
The chain was an experiment :) The backpack I could make look more like a sack? or woven basket maybe?

@La Makina
I like the embroidering idea. The banner was more for me, asking how to make those textures work correctly. If anyone knows how to texture body armor with the player's flag choice, LET ME KNOW!

@Tennenoth
Yes! Just adding that feather made me want to heirloom the straw hat too, lol. I'll see if I can fix the colors!

@crojosip
Yeah, that's what I was thinking for the swords as well. I'll get a couple done and see what you think.

So, does anyone here know how to make a faction flag show up in the dds texture, much like the Heraldic Mail with Tabard does? I know to use alpha channels and save the file as a DTX5.. It also has something to do with tableau and messing with code, but I couldn't get it working right... If anyone here knows how or can point me in the right direction, that'd be boss

I wanted to do more with the faction banners on the maxed heirloomed body armors like so:

thoughts?

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Just a quick update:

Feet:

Head:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

These are actually just mock ups done in photoshop (not modeled). Making new feet/body/hand models turned out to be a little trickier than I had originally thought but I figured it out. I'm trying to find a healthy balance between the 'aged' and 'upgraded' look. I'm not 100% committed to any of these designs and will probably retouch all of them but it will take time and collaboration to really give each item the "right look" so fill me with your thoughts.

Off topic: The last 2 days my internet at home has been out. I'm used to my ISP crapping out on me occasionally but this has become a major headache and I'm not sure what's wrong. It happened suddenly and for some reason my desktop can no longer identify the network yet I can still connect to the wireless router with my android... ?!?!... I've tried almost everything and nothing seems to work. It's been very frustrating so today I'm just going to begin formatting (backing up all this stuff of course) and see if a fresh start won't fix anything... This is more of an FYI in case I 'rage-quit' computers for a while.

Okay, I'm an asshole and haven't read any of the topic (only 3 pages, so lazy) other than the first post, so pardon if any of this has been mentioned. I'm just going to type them out as I notice things.

I like the clear visual representation....

Dang, you know I had planned on adding a 'repair all' button and totally forgot. I kept out the "save loadout" button because I've been working on a web based drag-and-drop inventory using some jquery scripts so that when you drop a weapon into/out of a slot it would automatically save that loadout to a database. Something similar to this: http://www.dannyvankooten.com/demo/inventory-drag-and-drop-with-db/

I like the idea of auto-repairing some equipment but not all of it. Maybe there's a master 'auto-repair' button on the dashboard but if it's turned off, you can tick a box in the equipment's details window.

I was also thinking that on the shop page there would be a section for comparing items because I do it all the time.

There should be a "backpack page" and I should take out the shop on the dashboard. It's convenient having it there, a sort of all-in-one page, but it causes too much clutter and makes finding things more difficult.

Thanks for the input Ozy!

Thanks guys, +1s all around!

I'm wondering if I should or shouldn't combine the aged look with the upgrade look? I just think if I'm going with one, I should stick with it but I'll mix it up and see what works.

Those look a lot better.

Agreed, they definitely look more appropriate. Do you have a preference between the "aged look" and the "upgrade look"?
