You really are over-estimating the capabilities of a long pike in single combat. It can't hit ANYONE within several feet of the user, EVEN SPIN THRUSTING. Chambering the weapon back will not pull the tip close enough to the user of the long pike even when spin thrusting. If you get close to them, they are a free kill. Once you step in the long pikes minimum range, the long pikeman can ONLY block. Also, it's attack speed is 70. 70. It has to be able to block or it can't be a dedicated weapon as intended. You are aware that a long pike user will move really slow due to it's weapon length, also.
I put a lot of thought into balancing it before the initial post. However, Until people can agree on a length I wouldn't make a model.

I think you underestimate the spin thrusting, you can hit and kill with barely past your hand with any weapons thrust if you spin properly.

I don't think shield skill means dick against crushthrough, only shield weight. And honestly, crushthrough aint no thang now that the people who bar maced/iron maced know its getting removed and dont crutch it anymore. If you get bonked by the long maul or great maul then you either got corner ganked (which blows but oh well), mobbed and bopped (OMG TEAMWORK) or outplayed (shame on you)

I like the sound of this. It doesn't gimp hybrids by making them less combat effective, but less cost effective, whereas pure builds can afford to equip higher quality equipment to offset their specialization.

The best way to kill multiple opponents surrounding you is to know who in the group is going to be a problem to you. Focus on some guy you know you can beat to bait the better guy into thinking he has a free shot on you, and then turn and kill the better player. Pikesquads are a different story. Your best bet is to try and maneuver them so they're all coming at you from the same direction, and use an enemy as a shield from the pikes or just press hard at the pikes and try and bring them down first.

This is a terrible idea and you should feel terrible for proposing it. Who in their right mind would want to play this game if you could be gimped by a hail mary sniper bolt in the opening seconds of the game? This isnt fucking armed assault where everyone gets a weapon that can kill out to 2km. All this would do is pressure players to be even bigger pussies than they are now.

Keep the system how it is, but make people pay consecutively more for heirlooms past gen10 (and nothing for the heirlooms before that). Maybe make it easier to retire to gen10, but whatever, the heirlooms are free to that point. 9 looms is a perfect number for free; you either do a couple of different weapons you like, a weapon and some armor, etc.

If players can then trade heirlooms or purchase them from each other for gold, high gen, retire all day errday players like myself can hock their old, boring heirlooms to pay for their new ones. This also works to the advantage of the gen1 forever crowd, who likely has much gold in reserve to purchase heirloomed items. This would introduce an interesting player economy for heirloomed items. Furthermore, retirement options for those above gen 10 could be,
retire with nothing (level 15)
retire for a xp bonus (31)
retire for an xp bonus and heirloom (31, some increasing amount of gold for every heirloom past the first 9)


The whole fun of having a stupid xp bonus is being able to rock out a new build for a while, getting to 31 and then trying something new. The current post 30 curve pretty much stops people from getting past 35, so it's not like kesh is going to make it back to level 50 and troll the world with 13 athletics and 500 effective wpf.

Remove:
Cathedral - ridiculously out of proportion architecture, boring corridor combat, and a centerpiece that shits on framerate.
Blood Arena - fuck this map. Fuck water, fuck tower camping, fuck wide open, get cav or range spammed combat
Forest Bridge - antiquated and boring range fest with invisible trees? Yeah, get rid of it
Bay keep - spawns in direct line of site and within horse jump of each other, spend most of the time in cramped rooms/on cramped walkways as well as traveling up or down or on magic slowdown textures. Not fun.
Misty mountain hop - Again, senseless elevation changes and layout, not only does the map make no sense but its not fun to walk at min speed while the ranged sit more or less in their spawn plinking at each other.
Sandcastle - the main combat areas are completely uninteresting open spaces AND the map shits all over framerates in spite of being tiny.

Edit:
2fort - too much shit on the periphery for its own good, too many trees down river and too much useless space upriver
field2 - the team at the bottom of the hill is at an immense disadvantage, they get shit for cover and as such are at the mercy of the enemy cav and ranged the entire game
blue balls beach trees - the ewok bullshit is too easily camped and makes a fairly interesting map a lame corridor grind
screaming trees - love the concept, but the framerate dips and a lot of the trees have retarded invisible clipping meshes.
