Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Good build?
« on: February 12, 2011, 07:35:52 pm »
Hi Blork,

The original build I posted was made before the cRPG set of patches (see date of post), and is no longer possible given the high xp requirements and repair costs. That said, I also posted a second post patch build on another page of the same thread, but am still experimenting and have not settled down yet with one build. With reference to crossbow, I continue to enjoy using it and have no points into it. The increased reload speed and minimal reticule advantage from invested points is, in my opinion, better spent on making a single weapon more deadly. I now also have an alt character in cRPG using a two handed blunt weapon, and so far am enjoying it as well (less reach than polearm, but faster animation as already referenced).

I hope this helps, and good luck enjoying the variety of build possibilities that cRPG has.

Thank you for the replies.

Heirlooming items has no effect on upkeep cost for that item.

If this is the case, than I retract my post. I assumed that since the sell price in my inventory was increased, and the sell price always reflects 50% of the purchase price, that my upkeep costs was than increased (which is calculated at 5% of the purchase price).

I appreciate the clarifications, and feel better now.  :)

General Discussion / What Benefits Are There to Heirlooming Body Armor?
« on: January 28, 2011, 06:33:52 am »
From what I see, none.

Would you select Option (A) that is subject to $1,000 higher in repair costs for less protection?

Option (A) The cost of my Thick Heavy Strange Armor is now $17,060 (inventory selling price of $8530 is 50% of item cost) for 48 body armor and 23 leg armor.

Option (B) The cost of normal Heavy Strange Armor with normal Mail Gauntlets is $16,063 ($12,636 + $3,427) for 52 body armor and 21 leg armor, weighing 1.5 more (3 x 0.5 for hands).

Please let me know if I have a misunderstanding of any of the calculations, because I cannot see the benefits of heirlooming body armor.  Weapons yes, but not body armor. Already having a heirloomed weapon, I decided to heirloom armor and was shocked by the 35% increased item pricing for no benefits compared to combining normal items.

Thanks for the clarification, now I undertand why I was miscalculating it.

Insteresting, however. 5% of the cost in the shop is $631.5, which is identical to 10% of my inventory cost. Before our equipment resell value was 2/3 of the original price, and now it is 1/2.

Oh well.

My understanding was that after the first patch of outrageously high repair costs, they were reduced to 5% of the item cost. However, in the screenshot below for Heavy Strange Armor the repair costs are clearly 10%? Is this a NA Server side issue, or have costs gone up once again?

Thanks in advance for the clarification.

General Discussion / Re: Fix List v210

Having 3 options when heirlooming an item - Increasing SPEED by +3, OR Increasing DAMAGE by +3, OR Increasing Protection by +3, and place a 2 heirloom cap on any one item to avoid OP.

Overall v210 is well balanced, and a significant improvement over one month ago.

Thank you.

I for one am grateful for the heirloom issue being quickly addressed, with an eye toward a balanced battlefield.   :D

Onward now, I say, onto bloodsoaked battlefields, let the crushed skulls litter our path as we reap death and destruction onto any who stand in our way. Onward onto searing glory!

*Raises a frothing mug of Mead in appreciation of this issue being quickly addressed in patch 0.210*

Aye, onward to bloodsoaked battlefields I say, with balanced odds of survival and skewered heads, and in appreciation of our past deeds and efforts for our heirloomed items, I thank you Lords of Development! Our laughter and joy from burning glory now envelopes us all! Onward I say to freedom or death!   :D

Thinking this through I agree. There should be a heirloom reset based on each persons generation.

Heirloomed items and additional WPF were the pre-patch incentives for retiring more than once (since the first time provided an opportunity to reset stats after game familiarity). With the additional WPF removed, and now heirloomed items much too expensive to use, having retired multiple times and spending weeks griding to level up again was a painful total waste of time in retrospect.

In addition, some of my double heirloomed items lost speed. They gained damage, but when I heirloomed the items it was for the speed, not damage.

I agree that a heirloom reset would be fair based on each persons generation. The same rational for reseting character stats applies to heirloomed items. Maybe this could be incorporated into the retiring options now being developed?

Excellent, Brune, thank you. Overlooked it since it was bunched with the character name change options.
