This is not enough. A simple "kill" doesn't mean anything. Killing a peasant or even someone of lesser level than you shouldn't give you any bonus.

I forgot to post this here earlier, this is a mere copy/paste from the oll' forum.

I finally came up with a work I wanted to do a long time ago :

I spent some time fine tuning the terrain seeds to get a nice river, the rest of the work was rather fast.

Each team begins by one side of the river, far from each other. Team 1 spawns southwest in the picture and team two northwest. Team one is a little more centered because it has to cross the river to take the vantage points. There are 2 bridges to cross it near the map borders where the embankments (?) are too high. The island is reachable by the water, by the wrecked boat for team 1 and by a rope bridge for team 2. It's easier to get there for team 2. To counter that, there is a tower that allows a few people from team 1 to have a nice pew pew spot. You need a ladder to get there.

There's something completly stupid with archery :

It's easier to hit a heavy board shield user than a buckler user  :rolleyes:


The forcefield nerf (although needed) is currently partially failed and make rolling an archer too easy (I've no experience in archery, but I yet make 3:1 ratioes on some maps with a lvl 20 archer created yesterday). And I'm not even speaking about the miserable armor most people wear that make ranged extremely deadly.

So, yes, light damage nerf please. Otherwise I'll probably stay playing with this char without any fear of the Upkeep-of-Doom, having fun being the bundle of sticks that interrupts fights/kills horses/headshots at the other side of the map/hides/monkey around/runs faster than everyone/is still skilled in melee combat making a poor dedicated meleer be ashamed of his failure duelling you/camps roofs/glitch with ladders/go in unreachable places... and so on.

To balance things out and make the upkeep less of an hard and harsh cap on equipment, this is a suggestion :


- Each generation gives a character 1000 gold PER DAY


This helps casual players, because they don't play often so 1000 gold per day means a few rounds in better equipment for them. But it won't affect hardcore players. Even at gen 10, 10000 gold are fast diluted into the cash flow created by upkeep and gain of a day.

It could be good with lower values too, or a slower than linear progression like ("gold with gen x" = "gold with gen (x-1)" + 1000 - 2 * sqrt("gold with gen (x-1)")

Yeah. with 40 - 50k gear i make a small amount of money overall.   With 20 - 25k gear i make a ton of money.


We're defenitely not playing the same game. I run around with 30k equipment and can hardly upkeep it.

Were aren't speaking about prices. They are all ridiculous compared to the amount of money you make now. I'm speaking about upkeep costs. Upkeep is expressed in money/time played, not in money. There's no sense to say

"You should take into account that with upkeep, the cost should be multiplied by 5 - 8. Making a black-armor in reality costing 175,000g - 280,000"

If you don't play with it, it won't cost you more than the buying price. And if you play with it, you have to be cost-efficient with it (please don't speak about "change armor then use your good gear" that simply doesn't make any sense, this is a game). Playing an infinite time will cost you an infinite amount of gold.

Basically, everything now is based on the balance between upkeep and earning, while the two af them are only relying on luck.

If you don't want costly gear to show up in the game, just remove it. As it is now, rich characters still can use so-called OP equipment that NOW make them have high k/d.


You really think it is of any fun to constantly switch equipment ? Why do you play in the first case ? To make enough money to play with a big armor during three rounds ? Saying "Yes now you can't use it all the time !" simply means you have to spend some rounds naked to upkeep your armor during a round. That's not my idea of a game.


If you think plate armors are OP (and they obviously aren't with the level capping), fine, nerf them. But please let people play in what equipment they want.

I see two ways to improve upkeeping mechanics :

- lower upkeep costs, make retirement cost gold (so you actually use your gold for something)

- don't change the upkeep costs. Instead, each generation gives you a set amount of gold each day. Something like 1000 gold per generation per day. So heirlooming becomes a really good thing for casual players, while the gold/day won't help hardcores much.

There are 2 main things I like since update :

- Autobalance taking banners into account (great for clans)
- Archery nerf

Apart from that I liked other things better in the previous version. Since retirement was enabled in 0.210 we have a goal again, enough for grinders like me. But it's not completly OP and arcade lovers can skip it completly.

Xbows are still way too easy to use as a secondary weapon without any investment... Horses seem too expensive.
