why doesn't the fire bombs explode?
-
You have to set them on fire with a torch.
-
But they do, there's a fancy puff of smoke and everything!
-
It would be nice if next patch we could increase by say 20 or 40 percent the amount of smoke that comes out per puff.

Only if you want more fps lag then we already have.
-
Yes pls.
-
How does that setting a light work? Have a torch in your inventory and then throw a fire bomb?
-
It sucks that these bugged items never got fixed after the wipe. I was hoping that the devs removed the buggy nature of the weapon so it would have only anti camp utility.
But alas, I think they gave up on it. Idk why they didn't remove it, useless piece of junk that will never get fixed.
-
Back when they still worked, they did dislodge camping teams, but then players also used them to just chuck randomly around the map and a while later 5 people would just die (50/50 chance of enemies or team mates) in the battle and probably more by running into the flames because they had particle effects turned off.
-
The thing that mainly worries me is how they would work in Sieges.
Those things sound scary if used on a siege ramp.
As for some people making it sound like the flames are permanent, are they really? If so then defenders simply firebomb the flag and walk away.

Not if you could code in areas that are unflamable or something.
The main reason they were put out is because they were so buggy and sometimes overpowered.

Solution - Make fire bombs only do damage to man-made constructions (catapults, siege towers, medicine tents, ladders, etc.) This would provide a nice balance that allows defenders to destroy (maybe take 3-4 bombs to do so) one of the siege towers crawling toward their wall with well-made throws (useful to have a someone skilled in throwing on defender's team).

I'd rather have an anti-camp weapon though. Make them unusable on siege servers, make them deal 10% damage every 3 seconds on battle mode.

I like this idea a lot. It solves the usefulness issue and doesn't unbalance any current classes or strategies. Plus yeah, it brings a little more much needed value to throwing for Strategus. Great idea!

We already have an anti-camp weapon; its called a horde of shielders waltz in and demolish you. Also, your suggestion would be fantastic for all the griefers and trolls out there who want to block doorways, ladders, and their own team's spawn with damage over time walls of death.

Did you pull out the safety handle???

BS, you didn't even read my message, I said that these items shouldnt be usable on siege.
And they shoudnt last forever if they are even getting implemented. I'm just theorising on how they would be usable again. Siege equipment is already downed very quickly, so taking one of them is useless.
-
Why not just make them work like how you would expect a bomb to work and ignore any lasting fire damage. An explosion that does so much damage depending on how close you were to the center of the explosion. If it actually explodes on you, death!
-
But how do they work?
-
But how do they work?
They don't.
True honest statement.

Nah I get you man I just disagree is all. I think having bombs of any sort as an anti-personnell weapon in this game would be a bad idea. Not only will it throw off the balance and cause TONS of whining (OMG an unblockable ranged weapon QQ) but it would be easily exploited by griefers, even on battle maps many of which have relatively compressed spawn points. Also, its hard enough to get public players to work together; this would only encourage more random infantry spread and more ninja/rambo maneuvers, which I feel is a bad thing.
