Title: Steam summer sale
Post by: bosco on July 01, 2011, 06:24:13 pm
In case you haven't noticed, Steam is currently holding a summer sale.

Check it out:

http://store.steampowered.com/

Got myself the complete Oblivion package for 8,50€, haven't played it for years and probably lost the discs anyway. :D

You can also buy Fire & Sword rather cheap on the summer sale which is bloody awesome, Captain Co-Op mode is immensely fun.

So far I got the GTA pack and Star Wars Battlefront 2. The rest doesn't really interest me that much. However something might pop up in the later days.

Frozen Synapse looks great guys.  Lets support another great Indie title.

Tactical squad based shooter that is turn based.  Similar to Xcom games back in the day.  Its gotten good meta score, levels are proceedurally generated (no memorizing maps) and lots of multiplayer/replay value.

$12 right now

Heres a review & info video

Ah, fond memories of The Shivering Isles of Oblivion, best expansion pack ever, beautiful madness...
One of the most creative expansions I've ever seen out there. Knights of the Nine was cool, but Oblivion needed something more vibrant and flamboyant rather than the same dull heroic theme that gets tiresome after a period of time.

+1.. Oh damn, there's that error message again!

Ye, heard it's pretty bad, but still, I had to have it when it was on sale for 3.75 euro. I have had M&B for over 6 years, so I'm a bit attached. :)

Since it started I got Test Drive Unlimited 2 for 4.99€, WFaS for 3.74€ and the 3 S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games for 7.49€ and felt bad for buying Wings of Prey at double price 1 week before the sale.

Looking forward to a Terraria sale, it's currently 7.49€, but considering that's the sum I payed for the 3 S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s I'd rather wait till the last day of the sales before getting it.

I wonder if the last Stalker game has a somewhat stable/less laggy MP than clear sky?

WFaS is quite good now after the patches.  Before the overall gameplay felt a bit weird it were more like M&B the first than Warband. But with the patches does it work more like Warband.

You mean Call of Pripyat?
I haven't played Multiplayer there much but I had no issues with lag there. It was a bit weird and maybe not the most fun though.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
You will definitely not regret that decision! Once you play KotOR II, and yearn for more, Star Wars: The Old Republic  (http://www.swtor.com/) is coming out (Been waiting for 4 years now).

And don't listen to those BS rumors of how its going to be a WoW clone, it's going to be The MMO that made WoW become f2p.

Also, offtopic - have you heard that Age of Conan is now free2play?

So far:

Bit Trip Runner
Bit Trip Beat
Atom Zombie Smasher
SpaceChem
Jamestown
Civilization V (from gamersgate)
Lara Croft: Guardian of Light
Lead and Gold

lots of indie games, and good ones! There were a lot of good games, but I had already bought them previously (Super Meat Boy, Killing Floor, Magicka, Just Cause 2, L4D2, and so on)

OMG! Time for some coop action!

I like how everything became more dynamic, in Warband, all the death animation for horses/riders are almost all the same, but in WFaS you just drop dead! And when you got shot, you just flew backwards, simple as it may be, I enjoyed those moments

If WoW becomes free... D:

Yup, I tried it out, but did not like it. It's just not my favor of gameplay, I guess. You can hardly wear anything non-barbaric/monkish, even the plate armors looked more ancient Roman/Egyptian than medieval Knights.. Oh that's why.

It's 4 US dollars here each, I'm thinking about buying C&C 4, too.

Yep, no shiny knights on white horses in Conan lore.

Yep, no shiny knights on white horses in Conan lore.

i was playing it like year ago or so, for few months, was quite fun, collision objects and such, tho i have never seen any dungeon/siege/raid (started with warband in the process ...)

also the free to play is fucking useless, the limitations take away great part of the game, and people dont usually like AoC, cause they are used to the lvl up fast and then go endgame, but man, leveling in AoC was freaking awesome!

Quite honestly, I don't think the limitations are that bad. You don't miss out on anything big, RoTGS is shit anyway, PvP is what the game is about (and PvP is not limited). Leveling is as fast as leveling in WoW (if not even faster).

Btw, if you already had some characters with the classes that are NOT included in free version (from a trial or previous subscription) you can still play them! One of my clan mates recovered his trial account he made months ago and he can play a Herald of Xotli :D

Hurry up and get Sanctum, it's a highly enjoyable combination of FPS and tower defense with 4 player coop that constantly gets patches and new content. Only 3.75€ for the next 6 hours.

Paradox Complete Pack :

70 games, expansions and DLC for a total of 31 complete games.

All this for 74,99€

The regular price is 704,45€ I think. Pure madness. If you like strategy, this is really the pack for you.

So far stuff bought:
Mass Effect 2- 6,80€- Worth the money, great game
Wings of the Luftwaffe 1,65€, DLC for wings of prey, adds in some challanging and interesting missions(fighting as a german).
Arma II: Combined Operations (ROW)- 20€  I loved the first one and I must say I like this one too. Can't wait for Arma 3 next summer.
Magicka 3,39€- Fun game with many great references, good co-op gameplay too, worth the 3€

Got Alien Breed 2: Assault for free with 3 tickets(its like 5€ or something if you buy it), downloading it right now and i'll give it a go tommorow.

Terraria, M&B With Fire and Sword, CoH pack, Medieval II Kingdoms. That's what I got. Now I just need to figure out an excuse to become unemployed so I have time to play.
