Title: Getting older
Post by: Dumertone on June 30, 2011, 07:51:21 pm
First of all, I'm not sure that what I'm going to suggest is possible at all, so yeah.

What I think would be cool is your characters face reflect its cRPG age. No more 17 years old gandpas and vice versa + ppl would probably look closer into their opponents faces to know who they are dealing with : old with good gear = experienced, young in good gear = likely lower lvl char, who heirloomed his daddy's cool gear. Ofc there will be ppl who use low tier just coz that's the way they roll, but anyway you'll be able to tell if they're high-lvl and make your decisions around that fact.

One of the way to do this might be linking cRPG age with "age" part of face generation screen and every lvl will move it more to the right by some % :

lets say 35 lvl is max (afaik its highest among the forum users), then:
35 - 100%
1 - x%

x= 1*100\35 = 2.9 %
so every lvl could move age scale to the right by 3% to max value.

Let's discuss.

No. A lot of effort went in to my face, and I don't want to see it ruined.

This has been suggested and turned down by the most before, if I recall correctly.

Well, I can understand that. But plz tell me then what's behind that whole "Age" thing? Why message can't just be "you've reached lvl x, homo"?
Or when Strategus kicks in, players under 21 won't be allowed to buy wine?  :D Well, that makes sense.

no...just no look at the bandits/my old friends the amount of time they put into their faces is unreal to make them look ugly to let it be messed up by an age script is stupid, not all of us want our characters to look 70+ or to look like phyrex or Bjord no thankyou I like my character face the way it is

I usually manually move my slider depending on my level each gen. I love my badass white mustache, but there's something satisfying about "earning" it as I level up. So basically the feature is already there, you just have to manually do it yourself on the edit character screen. A good solution, since people who don't like it don't have to use it!

That is pretty neat. I would also consider this to be actually implementable when WSE is working. Relating character age visually would be so awesome.

What we want is hot girls, not grandmothers.
