Title: [Poll] NA Fallen Brigade Tournament: Prizes and buy-in price

With the advent of the cRPG market place we have devised a system in which winners of our tournaments could receive fantastic cash and prizes.

How it would work:
1. Tournament competitors would purchase a XGP item on the cRPG market place from Fallen_Y
X=A yet to be determined amount of gold. Hence the poll.
Y=Fallen Brigade member running the event.
2. All of the competitors gold is pooled into a prize pot.
3. At the conclusion of a tournament the GP is divided among the top tier players.
Hypothetical Prize pool Split:
70% to the Winner
20% to Second
5% to Third
5% fee to the tourney organizers.

So as you can see the bigger the buy-in the bigger the pay-out, and potential loss. But it could be fun to bet on yourself in the tournament, just like in the single player version of the M&B

So what do you think?

btw its not mentioned, but this system is planned for our NA tourneys only, the classical all cRPG Fallen tourneys that are mostly for EU players will follow already time-tested scheme.

the idea of paying the tourney fee is mostly to offer something new and to limit the ammount of competitors a bit so the events are easier to organize for our yet unskilled NA tournament masters.

right now archery and melee tournament is planned (i'm sure the archery tournament will be cool, it has a great system of qualifiers that mannhammer came up with :o)

Good Point Beau, this is for the NA Fallen Tourney.
That is right there will be a North American Fallen Tournament. The rules, format and date of the tourney will be posted shortly after the end of this poll.

Events: The tourney will have separate events for both melee and archers.
Format: Free for all, last man standing.
Prizes: Tourney purse going to the victor of their respective event. With some small cash prizes going to the 2nd and 3rd place.

I'am really looking to the community to help me determine the entry price, so your honest input is greatly appreciated.

10,000 seems like a good price for the first tourney, especially if it's testing a new format.


Also, in terms of rewards, I think people who place #3-5 should get their deposit back.  I'm not sure how many players there'll be but it seems more kind to tell players to aim to "do well" rather than "beat both Goretooth and Harmless Peasant."

Now that I'm back from 4th of July vacation I can process your input. First of all, thank you to everyone that participated.  With 27 out of 46 votes being cast for 10,000gp or more. I have received a clear message. and will put the buy-in at ~10,000gp depending on the event.
10,000GP = Melee Event Buy-in
9,950 = Ranged Event Buy-in

+1 on all accounts. The format I have for this event will have qualifiers followed by a finals bracket. I'm thinking that anyone who makes it to the finals will get their entry fee back.

For the melee tourney my guess is that Goretooth and Harmless Peasant will be the main event.
It will be very interesting to see who's Kung-fu will rein supreme. :lol:

60% Prize is pretty hefty for a free-for-all deathmatch tournament, especially with a 10k entry fee.

Spread it out a bit or increase rewards for the number of kills or whatever, otherwise everyone will just try and avoid combat until being one of the last left alive.

How about: whoever gets the most kills, and whoever is the last one standing move on to the finalists round. So one to two players from each melee move to the finals?
The only problem with kills is that there is no free-for-all M&B format(That I'm aware of). So players will have to choose a side and many of their kills would be recorded as TK's. Making the scoreboard useless. But I could always use the chat log to record the kills...

Another idea that I had was; Keep the qualifying melee the same (IE last man standing advances). But then have one massive melee(call it, say, the "Redemption Melee) at the end of the qualifiers that consists only of players that failed to qualify or failed to show up for their qualifier. Then the last two surviving combatants of the Redemption melee advance to the finals. This would guarantee that all players would get at least two rounds of play.

I'd be more interested in 4 16player ffa matches for the first round where the best 1/2 move to the next round(this is how it works in single player) then do the same for the next round with 16 players per team( 2 teams instead of 4 teams of 8). Then switch to two teams of 8 for the third round. Then an 8 player FFA for the final match. Where the last man standing is the victor and the most kills/2nd most kills is 2nd/3rd place.
