Ive just bought my first higher lvl armor set and weapon, but the repair costs exceed my income by a lot even if i get x4 multiplayers. How do u keep ur gold up?
-
You need a stable, good amount of gold to maintain high-end equipment.
Let's say around 50-100k is a nice amount to upkeep a medium/heavy armored person, because you can take gold losses, and get the money back while an x5 streak.
-
Ah ok, thanks for the quick response :)

Modesty my friend, you can't expect to constantly afford the best armor with the best sword with the heaviest xbow.
Basically there are two methods, first one is to keep your equipment cost down to a reasonable level, most players break even at about 50 k (I use roughly 30 k worth of gear as inf), second one is to have different sets of equipment, one just for farming gold. (I would advice against this as it gives a much more "grindy" feeling to the game imo).
Upkeep is there for a reason, otherwise evryone would just walk around in plate 24/7

I wear plate all time. I can afford it, but you need to calculate your repair costs before buying the stuff.
The body armor is the most expensive item but im glad i don't need to pay every round for this.
-
I never use equipment that costs more than 30k,I prefer good weapons and cloth armor, and also if you keep your gear under 30k you'll make money fast
-
As the others suggested - 30k if you want to be on the safe side, and earn some gold too. 50k if you have around 100.000 gold to "gamble" with.
There was a big, very technical article about upkeep, and what is the self-sustainable mathematical limit to gear value. The answer was - 50k. :)

Thx for the replies, they've all been helpful. Im at an equipment cost of 35k but cant sustain it. I guess since im only lvl21 i cant be counted as an average player yet? didnt retire yet.

Hmm, 35 k should be sustainable even if you are performing below average (which you prob are since ur only lv 21).
What gamemodes are you playing? Battle is good since you can count on getting quite a high multi quite often.
-
I almost only play battle. Does performing better give u extra gold? Or does it just mean u dont have to repair as often, since im guessing dieing reduces item durability more than staying alive.

Well, if you are regualy killing many/good players on the opposing team you ARE making a difference and that will be reflected in your multiplier (in the long run!).
However, sustaining 35 k, even with crappy scores should be no probs in battle...
Are you perhaps buying loads of gear to test out? Lots of new players do.

No matter if you live or die, you have the same chance of things breaking. However, if you're performing better, your team has a better chance of winning which grants you bigger multipliers.
-
Yeah i guess i did buy a couple items just to see how they look :P
Ill just cut back on my expences and see how it goes. Also its good to know that dieing doesnt effect durability, not that ive been hiding, but it seemed like i had to repair more often when i died.
Thanks for the info guys

Not really, but nvm. Maybe if there are still pre january players here they'll understand.

Ok, you're right I'm pretty new, please enlighten me on the subject? :)

I stick at around 25k worth of gear to with no worries of losing money in the long run. The lower your gear expectations are, the better you can afford it, the more you can enjoy the game instead of worrying about the upkeep :D
