Title: Any good dogfighting games out there?
Post by: Gorath on June 20, 2011, 12:28:26 am
Re-installed Freespace 2 and have been having some fun dogfighting in space with a few mods.  However I really want to fight other players opposed to AI.  Any good dogfighters out there with multiplayer communities?

Do you want a space dogfighter? If you are good luck, freespace is the best there is at the moment. Also, remember July 1st, be there or be square my big hunk muffin.

If you aren't looking for a space game check out il sturmovik. That is a pretty decent dog fighter, but you might need to get a joystick for it. Really, if you don't show up on July 1st to the tournament, your e-cred is completely ruined.

Il2 sturmovik.

The most hardcore combat flight sim I know of.. And not that hard to get up and running. You better intimately know your aircraft rate of climb, maximum speed, turn speed etc, all different at different altitudes and of course.. Also know your opponents speed, get familiar with bullet drops and vectoring out where they will hit. Have a good sense of space in 3 dimensions, learn all the basic air-combat maneuvers etc..

Another game where awareness and personal skill is awarded in a similar fashion to cRPG. (perhaps even more..)

I think dogfighting is illegal in the US
