I don't understand the reasoning behind this limitation. I have several alts, all of which I play regularly with, but when I try to aquire something like a heirloomed horse for my cav alt, I am unable to do so.
As it stands, there is no possible way to exploit the system. A main character gets heirlooms faster than a gen 1 alt. Aside from archers, all classes have similar gold income.
Is there a chance this restriction will be lifted in the future?
-
Agreed. It's completely silly that we who have alts actually spend MORE time in order to grind up the retirement levels to get heirlooms than the multi-gen retirement spammers from yore, and yet we don't get to benefit from that time played when it comes to heirlooms and such.
-
I hope the alt's could trade just like mains.
-
My guess is the main concern is the ability then essentially to change your name, something I know the devs aren't a fan of.
Make a bad name for yourself on your main? Just make an alt, trade your heirlooms/gold over and begin anew.
-
i would trade money from all my alts to my main.. i think the most people will do that, thats whey the main thingy is there.
however i agree with two markets.
-
make a separate market for all alts - problem solved ... it is so easy :D
I don't know... There can only be one main but numerous alts...
To me, that sounds like the 'alt' community is probably going to thrive more than the 'main' community.
Except when Strategus came out, I suppose :).
-
I don't see how alts having a separate market will solve anything.
People make a bad name for themself? Well... should someone be martyred forever on the internet? A simple solution would be to prevent inner account trading. This means you cannot switch item A on character 1 to character 2's inventory.
-
Hmm would it be possible though that a player can make loads of alts and send 100gold to the main char? IN that case they can do alt farming which would be bad.
-
The reason you can't do it is so you don't grind gold on alts, then just transfer it to your main.
I can see people multiboxing using different IP addresses and transferring all the leeched gold to the main.
So yeah. "No," has my vote.
-
Too bad, I would really like to trade some of my gold around. I make a shitload of cash on my two-hander, shielder and polearm, but I wouldn't mind some more on my cav and my main (xbower).

That makes no sense. Everyone jumps on leechers like sharks to get free multipliers. That's not an issue. The money you make with alts is the same as money you make on your main: you, yourself, worked to get it so how is it unfair if your main could access the money you earned on a separate character? Why should we differentiate between money earned by playing 1 hour on your main with 1 hour on your alt? Makes no sense. All characters on your account should share the same pool of stuff.

No, as playing in light gear will bring you more money in less time.
I'm all for a mixed market for alts and mains. At the moment it's stupid to play alts because they will be useless in strategus and can't even help you main in any way.

indeed, i no longer use my alt cause of this.

What I meant was, when you first create your alt, your character is sent 100g and some noob gear. What would then prevent a player from sending the initial 100g to their main character, and then delete the alt, create another. Rinse and repeat.

Would take really long and would be really boring, not to mention its easily detectable
