Title: Gender change after retiring
Post by: Herpderp on June 15, 2011, 08:55:31 pm
So, can you change your gender when you retire your character? When I've tried it it did not work but this was a while ago. It would make a lot of sense to be able to, but then it would also make sense to be able to have a free name change as you retire as well.

I would love a sex change when I retire.

I understand why you can't make certain changes after a generation, but the rules do not really jive with the story, as it is supposed to be a son or daughter and not the exact same character.  On that note, keeping the same name seems silly, too.

Me: Hi, I'm Runemaster, Runemaster's son, grandson to Runemaster.

Other person: Oh, you're Runemaster the Third, then?

Me: Nope.

However, people the names were becoming odd, and nearly everyone in the game was "so-and-so_IV" or some generation. While it kills the roleplaying aspect, it does make reading names less of an eyesore.

Getting back onto the original topic, it would be cool to have gender changes after retiring. But, I hope they focus on releasing strat first :)

Afaik you can do it, if you hit lvl 31, you logoff, retire, change gender on char BEFORE first login to game, and should work, otherwise you wont see ur items ingame :)

so, hit 31, then logoff off server, retire on website, ingame change the gender, login to the servers, voila :)

Having generational indicators written as Roman numerals kills roleplaying?  What are you roleplaying?

Some Devs on IRC told me this method is no longer viable. But please try if it works.  8-)

I'm all for the gender-change.

I didn't realize this was supposed to affect anything. I once just changed my gender on Warband to see what the black mask with hood looked like on a female char. It didn't have the 2 stupid holes in the back of the head, but I went back to a male character anyways. Was I not earning gold/exp when I was female or something? Cause I had access to all my items still

I changed the gender some months ago - worked like a charm. When I later tried to change again, I didnt have any of my items.
