If cav is your main focus, the Arabian is definitely the best sword for you.

I used both arabian cav and knightly arming sword on horseback; both of them are useless. KAS is short and low damage, Arabian cav is slow.
But on foot definitely KAS ( great thrust damage for a 1h sword)

Don't listen to this man!

Any of those 1h swords are perfectly fine for 1h/cav duty.

I use a MW Knightly Arming Sword and love it.

Another option to consider is the war spear, kind of fun on horseback when caught in a group of footsoldiers.
A plus is it can be sheathed, where as a lance must be dropped.

The Arabian Cavalry Sword is an awesome weapon on horseback once you learned how to use the full range of it. I find it rather good on foot too because of its high base base damage and reach. The range can often help to offset the movement speed problem dismounted cav usually has. For me the rather slow weapon speed is not a problem because I use it with a pure 1h char with rather high 1h wpf (>130).

Seems to me you're fully aware of the pros and cons of all the swords, so no sense in giving more tips. If i should choose between the three, it would also be the Arabian Cavalry Sword.

To give you a new input: Have you tried out the Military Cleaver? Massive damage, good speed, fine reach and nice price. Consider it a moment.

Compromise: Italian Sword.  It's got deceptive reach, nice speed, and good damage.  It's not the best of the best but it's a good all-round 1h.

Don't forget the Scimitars. The speed is wonderful, especially with the curved sword deception.

Shaska is quite fun on horseback, I prefer it to the Arabian. 30dmg might be a bit low though depending on your build.

Everyone forgets about the Shaska. Amazing reach (103, I think), good cut damage too, and it looks awesome. Also rather fast. Only downside is poor stab damage, 19.

I'm 1h cav myself and use Nordic Champ sword.  Having a good thrust is vital for a 1h cav, plus its also faster than arab sword.  I find arab sword not so great on foot.

I've been having a lot of fun using the arabian cavalry sword on foot.  People seem to underestimate the range and while it's slower it's not unbearably slow.  I think both the cav sword of the knightly arming are good choices.

Heh heh everyone adds in their own swords, both adding the pros and cons. I find this a good guide for 1h swords, thanks all!
