If you want to shoot - buy Strongbow
If you want to kill - obtain War Bow
It's not the fastest bow in game. But it's faster than any xbow-long bow, and can be as deadly as Arbalest with proper build:

Very good projectile speed
Good weapon speed (MW War Bow shoot just as fast as standart Strongbow)
Disadvantages
Two slot weapon (if you want to use 2 quivers - you must use 0 slot weapon as backup)
Can't be used on horseback

With Pure Archer build - 21\21, 7PD and 163 WPF in archery
Raw damage: 91cut (bonus from wpf, PD and str)
Against 50 armor: 25-53 cut
With Doom's Day archer build - 24\21, 8PD and 167 WPF in archery
final damage: 98cut (bonus from wpf, PD and str)
Against 50 armor: 29-58 cut
