Title: STRATEGUS TEST BATTLE 10.1 AT 21 GMT

My army will be attacking Ibdeles Castle, defended by Rahl, in order to test out the new state of Strategus sieges. We'll be using three new pieces of equipment: siege towers and catapults for attackers, healing tents for defenders.

Nobody's getting paid anything for this, but if you'd like to help test out the new equipment a bit, please apply for whichever side you'd prefer to fight on. So the battle is: Pub Crawl vs DHaran Legions, 2300 vs 1200, to be fought in a bit over two hours after this posting. Please show up on time! :)

I applied. I have one question however, it seems the battle will take place the 11st instead of the 10th, is it an oversight or will it take place tomorrow?

The battle time will be changed to suit. The test is currently set for one hour and fifteen minutes from now.

The new patch is out, but it's bugged! You will need it for this battle, please install ASAP once the problem is fixed!

Well a video wouldn't be that impressive they are kind of buggy at the moment. However they function on a basic level, and I think they will be an awesome addition to strat siege battles. Right now sieges are really boring attrition grind fests.

Catapults that lower walls and player deployable siege towers are really gonna mix it up. Defenders get a tent that can heal you to full HP, which sounds overpowered as fuck until you realize that with enough time attackers can destroy entire walls.

Siege towers are nice, quite fun.
 
Selectable spawns were awesome too, yet they didnt get deactivated when taken by an attacker. Atleast not mine (Was on the destroyed front tower, where okin spawncamped me :c ), might have been because the original flag was 10m over our heads. Also, would be helpful to get any visual notice that you just selected a new spawnpoint.

Healing tents die way too fast, they are gone if you just look at them with an evil stare.

Weapon racks didnt work.

Catapults are a nice idea, but I fear this will end in strategus sieges being 30min of catapult(used by melee) and ranged firing, until we get a plain field and pure teamdeathmatch. Many castles/towns can not be left by the defenders, combined with the high fall damage there is nearly nothing they can do against it. (add balistas!)
 If it is somehow possible to save the damage of a castle and keep the damage for the next battles, unless repaired (variables for all destructible parts, so the map will always load "repaired", then get "damaged" by script). While damaged, they will give you less gold/recruits in strategus. Repairing has to be costly, too.#

How do the selectable spawns work? I noticed all the blue flags along the castle walls and figured they were just spawnzone indicators from the map creator.

attackers can disable them, defenders can enable them or, when pressing use again, set them as their spawnpoint.

Was a bit bugged, though, looked like people could still spawn at disabled spawns.

It all seems very nice once the rough edges has been worked out.

Another visual bug I noticed was the "Block" of the catapults switching between them. it was like there could only be one block. It would then come flying off the screen and go into position. Dunno what was causing it, but several on the chat had the problem.
